My virtual squadron is planning on using the gazelle as a recce tool and using it as an aerial JTAC with the co-pilot sending 9-liners over TS. I know that the SA-342M is not laser equipped and so cannot buddy lase but does the viviane system have the ability to give an accurate grid reference for the point that the optics are looking at?

Sorry if this has been asked before!

Maybe you'll find this info from BaD CrC useful

There is a new trigger coming with the Gazelle module (according to the latest interview of Pat01 on checksix) that will allow you to set a flag whenever a recce had been performed on a given target through the Viviane camera. This means that it should be dead easy in the ME to call for an artillery strike based on this recce flag.

Thanks cilli, I saw that but I am more interested in multiplayer so passing a 9-liner to human players flying the A-10s. I would like to know if the gazelle can bused to accurately find the grid reference or lat and long of targets.

That is how we in the 42nd VFG are planning on using it. We are putting together a JTAC training package, but it would be great to know what systems and features the gazelle will ha e to help us do this such as buddy lase or providing target MGRS.

Hello Gents,

As far as I know the real Gazelle doesn't feature a data link system.

So it's not simulated in the module.

What you can do though is to get your current position coordinates through the NADIR, Lase the target with the sighting camera and get its distance, then you can communicate what you got through the radio.

I'd add that the Gazelle can only lase a target in a short range of time, a few secondes, just to get the target distance, but it cannot perform a buddy lase.

The module will feature the ability to refuel in a zone pre-defined in mission editor with flags, I mean without any FARP. But the same cannot be applied to re-arm at the moment, it will as soon as the game will allow to do it.

All these features are open to improvement or addition, please feel free to let me know your ideas and I'll see if it can be done, respectful of what can be done in real though.

Actually, this is great! May be we can combine the zone working only after a check for "FuelDepot" or a "Fuel Truck" at least near it?

No high priority, I guess it can be done already with existing trigger/condition system, but it would be easier if the refuel zone checks for appropriate support units near it, like the FARP object does.

For rearming: how does Combined Arms implement this? At least we may do a "rearm" with a standard loadout, based on CAs mechanism? Just an idea...

Pat, thanks for the reply. Will the distance to target be in nm or km? I wish ED would add an option to change the F10 map into km.

I hope someone models some tactical fuel trucks and camouflage netting so we can setup some very tactical looking refuel points on the edge of treelines.

Game options, Units (dropdown in right hand colum) -> Metric. Affects mission editor, in-game F10 map, and the status bar in external views.

Hi guys, guess you may have your answer about the triggers tonight.

Anyway, if it's "forgotten", those triggers were really limited, because of the simulator way of working. They needed in order to work the "Cockpit parameter" condition. It only works in Solo, not in multi-player. So this was the first huge limitation.

The second one, mostly for the recce tool, was a resources issue. The game permanently checked if your camera was aiming in an area called "SPOT#" (trigger zone), even if your mission didn't use the trigger. It resulted in really noticeable losses of FPS.

I understand that it may be disappointing for some of you to read this, as long as it would have been a good feature. I personally asked Pat to code them in order to use them in the Campaign, and I even had to rework entire missions once decision was made to suppress them, around 1-2 months ago, for both of us, it wasn't an happy decision as long as the potential of this trigger was really exciting... It was really nice to use, but again, due to simulator limitations, it never was useable in Multiplayer, and worked in Solo causing troubles of performances.
