joebloggs Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I'm building a new computer and want to know how I deactivate my modules and re-activate them on another computer I build. Do I also have to deactivate these from the beta 1.5 and the other version of DCS? Thanks!
grunf Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) You have to go to your dcs folder - \DCS World\Mods\aircraft\<module name>\bin and run protect.exe. The name is actualy different for each module, e.g. a10_protect.exe for A-10C. You have to run it for all the modules, from their own folder. Some modules may have pcnsl.exe instead, but the procedure is similar. EDIT: if you have Combined arms and campaigns, you'll find their files in DCS World\Mods\tech and DCS World\Mods\campaigns. Chose Activate or deactivate product Click on Deactivate You do the procedure once for each module, even if you have multiple installations (i.e. beta). To reactivate, do the same procedure like you did when you first installed the modules. Note that some modules don't like BIOS upgrade while they are activated. I lost a MiG-21 activation because of it. Edited November 4, 2015 by grunf 1
WinterH Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Small caveat : MiG-21 and Bf-109K doesn't seem to deactivate. At least they didn't for me in two different computers I have tried to. Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script

kontiuka Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 You have to go to your dcs folder ...Thanks. This was very useful since I was having a lot of trouble activating the Mig-21 through the module manager.
Snacko Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Man, I get so confused every time I have to deal with all this. And I've been at this since the first version of Lomac. I'm a good customer! The new patch to the beta for 1.5.1 stopped my Mig21 from working again!!! It did it when I first installed the beta as well. So, I re-activated it, like I always have t do with these modules.. The only thing that I had done was upgraded to Windows 10! And none of my other modules have had any problems. Over the years I have lost a lot of activations. I had heard that even if we lost them, we can get more. But now I just read that after you loose them, you only get 1 new activation per month. I thought they all renewed! So, now I am trying to figure out how to 'save' activations. Everytime I start DCS it says my Mig21 Activation key is not valid, and I should reactivate. But I'll loose another activation for no reason, like I have so may times before. So, I went onto the Licensing page and looked up my Mig. And it says it's status is ACTIVE! Activated: Yes Is there any way I can reactivate it, without loosing another activation??? I bought this Mig21 only 1 year ago, and I've used 6 activations!!! Are there any 'easy to understand' rules to follow to avoid loosing activations? I mean other than never changing anything on your computer? And I just ordered a new motherboard, cpu, memory to upgrade for DCS. This is all very annoying.. Snack Officer Intel I9-10850K (OC @ 5.0ghz) │ 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3200 │Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24gb - ҉ - Blackshark Cockpit Trainer - ҉ - ♣ Thread | ♥ Download

I always make sure my computer is clean and well maintained, but for some reason some of these patches mess up my game like it does yours. Like telling me certain modules couldn't be updated ect. It's just done this again with the latest patch where it's told me it's unable to update the Mig 15 Bis.

Different thing on this occasion, but how am I supposed to update the Mig 15 without activating it again? I have had the same problems as this guy though. I've lost about 5 activation on the A10C for example and I've no idea why. He's talking about activation issues and this happens on other modules for some people.
