I'm just getting into head tracking with the Trackhat Clip and need your input what keys you use for pause and center. I have several modules and have yet to find 2 keys that are not used by one or the other for something. What keys do you use for headtracking center and pause?

Hi...for those I use numpad zero for center and full stop for pause and dont use precision mode.

They sit beside numpad enter for default zoom.So nicely clustered.

TrackIr 3 here with trackhat clip.

I used two keys on my hotas because I feel I need to regularly centre my view while holding the stick and looking at the screen. If I look down to the key board my track ir follows me....does that make sense?

Personally i don't see the need for pause or precision, so don't use them. Centre i have bound to Caps Lock, as no game seems to use that, although to be honest i find i only need to use Centre once per session.

Many will often have different views depending on the input devices used, models flown and how much 'stuff' they want mapped to devices, keyboards etc..

You an use CAPS LOCK and TAB, generally without conflict if you want the to use the keyboard...

Have a look at this link http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87543 - it will use function keys on your keyboard that are not normally used and assign them to a controller via a small prog with lttle overhead.

Also, consider trying other profiles... this one originally from WAGS for me is the best, it really stopped a lot of re-centring in-game.. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=64447

Might help... :)

For pause I use the middle mouse button, because the only time I may need to pause is when clicking on something, so I'll be holding a mouse anyway :smartass:.

I use ctrl-f12 to re-center, only because I was to lazy to find a better solution.

I don't use precision.

I assign pause and re-center to a couple of hat buttons on my Warthog throttle instead of the default key commands.

I too do not use the Precision mode.

I wish the TIR software allowed for use with modifiers for these commands, but not a big deal really.

I set the three TIR switches to combinations of Backspace with Ctrl, Alt & Shift, and then map them to joystick or mouse buttons.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll try a button on my joystick for center to start and am wondering when a guy would use pause. I've read you need to pause before setting view in pit? I'm brand new to headtracking and haven't done much looking around yet.(pun definitely intended):D

I just use the arrow keys on the keyboard since I don't need them for anything.

Can I just say that for people with a memory as bad as mine, what I tend to do is assign anything that's critical i.e. needs to be within immediate reach to my HOTAS and everything else including Tracking commands gets bound to voice control.

Personally, I find it easier to remember vocal commands than a tonne of buttons and modifier binds. It's made fumbling with all the controls so much easier by just saying "center view" or "screenshot" or "BVR Mode" etc when I want to do something that doesn't require my utmost attention and/or input.

Aircraft like the F-15 are pretty simple in terms of buttons but for aircraft like the A-10 or the KA-50 where lots of buttons and mappings are needed, this comes in very handy!
