I don´t think this is intended. Seems to be a general bug.

I reported persistent smoke in the Open Beta section.

Yep.

Maybe the P51 needs team work, drag and bag, to compete with the K4 at low altitude?

I never had a problem in the P-51 vs K4.

I shot down three of em on sunday in close quarter dogfights in the Mustang. Now, I baby the engine, watch my temps, and only use WEP in an emergency. I also enter turns coordinated and save power reserve for maneuvering.

So this is a confirmed bug? I see it happening to me all the time in the 109 and the 190. It's frustrating, visually. Can't say I have noticed any performance issues otherwise?

had this as well, seems not to be synced in MP, friend of me couldnt see it.

when i landed and came to a stop it was still there and easy to see where it came from: directly from the engine.

dont have a track file for it, sorry.

I'm not 100% sure but to me it seems to happen with an abrupt change in manifold pressure.

The Focke-Wulf does the same thing when the pressure jumps up automatically upon reaching ~3300m altitude.

Too rich mixture and/or contrails simulation perhaps...?

I'm sure its a bug but I was able to make it go away. If you sit on the runway just before you take off at 1500 rpm for about 10 secs. (with your brakes on of course), and then immediately start your acceleration at full throttle. There is no smoke any more. Did this time after time to confirm it works. It worked for me.

I was going to post a track and indeed I tried..........But you can't ever get the same track to play back twice these days.
