StandingCow Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Not sure if this is something new as of 1.5 or something to do with my eyes or settings... but I can barely see ground targets in my TGP, don't remember it being this difficult in 1.2. Here are two examples, both have a tank in the screen.. one is WHOT the other BHOT. I tried adjusting gain, but still no luck. Attached both. Note, the tanks are not in the center of the pointer in these shots. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo

StandingCow Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 HERE is another thread regarding the same issue. Oh thanks man, TBH I didn't even expect there to be other threads about this... thought it was just me being blind. :) Glad to hear it isn't just me. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
Gth Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I personally haven't had any issues with the TGP, of course I'm constantly flipping my boat switch to find targets. Something I've noticed is that certain targets won't show very easily under different switch positions, which does appear to be because of the terrain, but there again, depending on the boat switch position the terrain causes different amounts of clutter while bringing out the target. I'll have to load up a mission and post a screen of what I see when I target something.
Fakum Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Geesh! I haven't flown in awhile, but are you saying there ARE tanks in those screen shots? Dahlbeck Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Where in the images? I truly can't see them either. :-)
Backy 51 Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 It's a conspiracy by the USAF to get rid of the A-10C in DCS and replace it with the F-35A. ;) On a serious note, the TGP is rather useless now for finding ground targets in 1.5.1 ... Sure hope this "feature" goes away in 2.0. I don't need no stinkin' GPS! (except for PGMs :D) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ReaperSVK Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) what are your settings for the Res. of Cockpit Displays in Options ? I have it on 1024, just played DCS 1.5.1 a little and I didn't have this problem......and please, pretty please tell me where is the tank in those pictures, I am looking at it for 5 minutes now and I can't see them and it's killing me :helpsmilie: Edited November 28, 2015 by ReaperSVK
Pikey Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I can't find Wally :( I also don't have this issue and can spot things from stupidly unrealistic ranges. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
StandingCow Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Max 1024 res. Tank in the first is just up and left of the Xhair. Second IMG its just on top of it. Edited November 28, 2015 by StandingCow 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
GurbY Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I can't find Wally :( I also don't have this issue and can spot things from stupidly unrealistic ranges. Well it reminds me of a certain evening and a certain "looking-for-targets" situation... it is EXACTLY what I had. The day after, however, everything was 100% crisp. With no changes to settings or whatever..
Blooze Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 In 1.2 I rarely ever used the brightness or contrast buttons on the TGP screen but with 1.5 I have found that by increasing the contrast and reducing the brightness in CCD mode it makes it much easier to see the targets. Those buttons are there for a reason and I can't help but wonder how often a RL pilot would use them to accomplish the same goal depending on RL terrain, weather and variables in lighting conditions. One thing I have always done and continue to do is reduce the brightness on the TAD screen to improve the ability to see the symbology against the map. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

gunterlund21 Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 thank goodness others are having this problem. I thought for a second my eyes were going bad. With the new graphics, the ground has too many hotspots. I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!
