Fred00 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 First my system (I know, pretty low spec): Core i3-2100, GTX 660, 8GB RAM. I realized there would be a difference but maybe not that much. In Caucasus near some air field and city I got 55-70 fps (mostly 60-65). Over Las Vegas I get 15-20fps, sometimes up to 25, but over the strip (at low altitude) I actually saw 9 fps. :helpsmilie: Just ordered: Core i7 4970K and 16GB RAM. :) Now I'm just wondering if I should go for the GTX 970 or 980? Does anyone here have the 970? What kind of fps are you seeing around Las Vegas? To clarify, I run more or less everything maxed out at 1920x1200. Running the new glorious NTTR map on low is out of the question. :P
Devrim Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Same. :) I just fly via F11 (free cam). I get 16 FPS over the city, but I must say my settings are generally in "high" - I need to re-adjust them... My system is in my sign. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Me too, NTTR is unflyable on my old system that ran 1.2 great. But I discovered my ATI 5700 card is DX10 and only has 1 GB of memory, when I was lead to believe when I bought the system it was DX11 and 2 GB. So....new system ordered. Fred00 Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 I chose the GTX 980. Now atleast I won't have to worry about fram rates anywhere on the map.

Absolutely, throwing that 660 in that new build would be a crime. A 970 would do very well for it, if you have the funds a 980 would be very nice also. Exorcet Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 First my system (I know, pretty low spec): Core i3-2100, GTX 660, 8GB RAM. Isn't 16 GB the recommended for NTTR? That's why I got 32 GB RAM. fixen Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I am still fine with 8GB ram with everything maxed. Maybe when I join some really intense missions it will show and Ill have to buy more. But for now I am fine.
algerad3 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Mad dog , I have same card, it is dx11. Just not as strong as one would expect. Research(post purchase) showed it was similiar to the 4880 in performance. Just less energy use and dx 11. I also responded to your other post in the video section. wilky510 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) a 970 FTW will preform as well as a normal 980. I'd honestly buy the 970 FTW. Though if you wanna shell out the extra cash for a 980, i would get atleast an SC or the FTW version of the 980. I'm running a 980 ti SC and 8gb of ram too, haven't noticed any stuttering or anything on NTTR after 3-5 hours playing in a MP server yesterday. 16gb of ram will be fine. 32gb is overkill imo. You'll probably upgrade your pc before you see use out of the 32gb of ram. Edited December 3, 2015 by wilky510
dburne Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I run an EVGA GTX 970 FTW 4gb card, and have 16 gb of ram. I get very good performance on NTTR , completely stutter free, with most graphics at their highest settings. I have yet to see a single stutter. Using around 3.6gb of vram and around 5gb of system ram. ( although system ram usage climbs slowly due to memory leak). Foxbeard Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 I have a gtx 980 now in my sys, but still frame drops down to 30-40fps from stable 60fps on very low altitude over vegas. Everything on max settings except medium traffic and flat shadows on. __________________ Windows 7 Ult 64 Bit | Intel Core i5-3570 | 16GB DDR3-2133 | GTX 770
Zimmerdylan Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Wow....I'm only running a stock Dell Quad core @ 3.1 Ghz and a GTX 660Ti. I have a couple of things on high and most everything else on medium. 2.0 is set exactly the way 1.5 is set up and there is 0 performance difference. But I don't expect to see 60 fps. I'm happy hovering around 30. But the performance difference on my machine is very little and that's in downtown L.V.

I got a pretty stable 60 fps with a slithtly lower spec graphics card and every setting more or less maxed out. Yeah, your correct about that. So I want to shoot useless Cortana in Win. 10. Shut it down, do what you want, it still takes RAM in the background. I have a tutorial on how to disable it 100% and you can bet I'll be doing that soon. I went through and shut down a bunch of crap that was hindering performance on my rig. But oddly enough I'm pulling a steady 60 FPs in 1.5, but I'm up at 120-110 in the desert and 70-80 in L.V. in 2.0. Just the reverse of what I would have expected.

Had a chance to try it out a bit. Gives me a bit of a crick in the neck, but definitely much better than trying to use the POV hat. I was holding out for the consumer version of the Oculus Rift, but ED has forced my hand with the beautiful Nevada map. I need to see the sights now... I think you are playing on 1080P? Fred00 Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Upgrade complete! Fps went from 9 (lowest seen) to 28 (also lowest I could manage). So a 200% increase. This is at 1080p with everything maxed out except MSAA set at 8x. I think it runs very smooth now except at very low altitudes around the strip. Specs are: i7-4790K, GTX 980, 16Gb RAM.

Fred00 Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 What's the average? Just curious because I've got a 970 with 1440 screen and my lowest is maybe 35? Hmm, there's definitely something wrong with my setup then. I just tested again and average is maybe 35 fps with a new low at 26 fps. Looking at a video someone posted on page two in this thread it shows basically 70 fps in an area where my setup gets 35 fps. And that's with a GTX 970 (and same CPU as mine)! Anyone knows what could be wrong? Drivers?

Anyone knows what could be wrong? Drivers? Yeah, my average is usually pegged at 60 FPS. What kinds to my mind to check are: Depth of Field, gave problems in 1.5. I don't use it because I don't like the look, never had it on. Press RAlt + Enter, again another 1.5 issue that causes stuttering. Makes the game from borderless window to true full screen. It was not an issue for me in 2.0 though. For most uses, 4xMSAA should be more than enough. Going higher than that will kill performance. Most games these days utilise post-process AA (SMAA/FXAA) instead of MSAA, as it a very expensive AA technique. It also has some issues under DX11 IIRC.
