Slipp Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 ED has upgraded the in-game 530F to 530D standards after we made the request. That happened just this week and it is not yet available. That's all we know about the issue. Thanks for the answer. I hope that it proves to be much better than the current F model. Really looking forward to flying Mirage! :)

That's all we know about the issue. Do we know anything of the comparable ranges of this missile? The wikipedia entry for it lists only very general information for the entire family of missile as max distance of 40km, which would mean a max range of about 20 miles, or an effective range of about 10 miles for an incoming non maneuvering target at high altitude. Since the 27ER has very similar performance in DCS will this missile be comparable to it or are my ranges very optimistic? Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.
Brisse Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I thought someone wrote in the M2000 thread that got closed that the 530D was similar to R-27R, not ER.
OnlyforDCS Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) I thought someone wrote in the M2000 thread that got closed that the 530D was similar to R-27R, not ER. Is that in RL or in DCS? Wiki lists max range of the 27R at 80km, and ER at 130km. That's double the range of the 530D. Or is it? Sorry if Im making little sense, I guess Im a little bit frustrated with how all BVR missiles are performing currently in the sim. Slipp Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The blocks are Super 530Ds, the missile shaped ones are Magic IIs. ED has upgraded the in-game 530F to 530D standards after we made the request. Brisse Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Wait, that is a contradiction. 530D is not available? So you did not use 530D but 530F in the video? I believe it should be interpreted like "not available in the public version yet".
TomCatMucDe Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Wait, that is a contradiction. 530D is not available? So you did not use 530D but 530F in the video? he means the update that brings the migration to the 530D is not available to public, ie you and me. He is a developer and has access to other versions. remember, these guys have shown videos with Mirage in Nevada already months ago.

Sorry if Im making little sense, I guess Im a little bit frustrated with how all BVR missiles are performing currently in the sim. Missile range means nothing without launch speed & altitude. The figures you quote from wiki is for high altitude and supersonic speed launch Vs straight incoming high altitude & supersonic target. A usual fair comparison is done with shooter & target at same altitude and around M0.9. Available MiG 29 9.12a and Su 27 SK don't give such high range for R-27R/ ER. DCS manual gives 64km for R-27ER, pretty close to Su 27SK manual. Mirage fanatic ! I understand the parameters involved but the missiles in the game are not performing to specs. Not even to DCS specs. Just to repeat my question, what is the max range of the matra530d? jojo Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Since Super 530D seems to be "Work In Progress" I'm afraid you will have to wait a little bit to have an answer... Mirage fanatic ! Exactly.. ..And it was me the pilot, not Zeus..we all know he is an outstanding coder, but the complete opposite when behind a simulated aircraft controls :megalol::megalol::megalol: Best regards Prowler
Kayos Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Maybe we can have it for the weekend :) :music_whistling::pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
il_corleone Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 (edited) Maybe we can have it for the weekend :) :music_whistling::pilotfly: This :D :D :D :D :D it's almost mid December anyways IMHO The module looks great and looks like to be polished every day in a better way, as first module from Razbam, this looks very good for the future! Zeus67 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Prowler is at it again, this time against Mig-29As: Just so you know, Prowler was taught how to fly and fight a delta wing by a former Kfir-C2 pilot. Hook47 Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Prowler knows how to handle it better than most...we were doing a multiplayer test 2 M2000C vs 2 MiG-29. Before I could get into the fight he had taken them both out within a window of 30 seconds. I personally am still very much learning how to use the M2000C to it's advantages. Awesome. What is the speed/energy management like in this later build?
OnlyforDCS Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 Seriously impressive skills. I don't think id have the guts to go toe to toe with a Mig29 with no more missiles left and guns only. Zeus67 Posted December 12, 2015 Author Posted December 12, 2015 This is the latest battle of our friend Prowler: This time against Su-27s, but he cheated since the Flankers do not carry their BVR missiles. ;) "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. PiedDroit Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 This is the latest battle of our friend Prowler: [...]This time against Su-27s, but he cheated since the Flankers do not carry their BVR missiles. ;) Very cool, I can't wat to do that myself  I got a few questions, it seem that the bandits are timing their turns to dodge the incoming 530's at the right moment, they seem to know where the missile is (I wonder if a human pilot would be that accurate)... Also, how many flares was he carrying? I counted more than 16 for sure. Is it a valid tactic to spend all the flares at the merge (i.e., is it the part of the fight where most vulnerable to heaters)? I know those questions are not directly related to the M-2000, I'm trying to understand some basics :D
OxideMako Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 How far was that first shot? Looked like it was fairly long range for an R530. Aren't they comparable to R27R?
Arden Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Sheesh that thing can take some sharp corners. Damn
Voodooflies Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Looks like the ultimate challenge for Prowler would be to face a flight of SU27 armed to the teeth with their standard loadout. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
