DCS 2.0 is here and its fantastic but I really hoped that the missile explosions would change a bit. Maybe have a randomised explosion that might look a different to the current one.

I was watching a video of Falcon 4 and their explosions look fairly epic.

I this something that some of the stellar modders we have on here, could approach?

Helicopters!! Never trust anything that screws itself into the air!

I'm pretty sure they've said that they're working on new effects for the explosions.

I was actually looking for that statement...but then I came across this thread :P

But yeah, I really hope they do update them since the ones in the game right now are 12 years old. (Yes 12. They're the same as they were in Lock on from 2003)

Make them a bit...well...prettier. :)

I couldn't emphasize this enough, the current model of explosions has a huge impact on immersion in my opinion. Now that we got all the tools to carry perfect air to ground missions, what a disappointement to see these 12 yo explosions on the TGP screen...we've seen too much videos on Youtube not to know what a realistic one looks like, not to mention the air to air engagements :)

I would add on top of this, that the area of effect of dumb bombs such MK82 needs a fix. If the bomb lands 10m away of a soft target, it will remain undamaged.

Everything that's 12 years old in DCS needs replacing and fixing to be brutally honest... Not just explosions but the current map could do with some thorough work (it would be great to have a map with fractal processing and looked amazing like Outerra - allowing for greater map size, and visibility ranges without murdering performance  - now getting back on topic it would also be great to see different types of explosion depending on the weapon and what exactly it hits (a bomb hitting the ground shouldn't look the same as a Maverick hitting a tank or a sidewinder hitting an aircraft)

Bits of tank flying after being hit would be very cool aswell. However as long as it's realistic and not too Hollywood like.
