after using the canon for a extended period. I tried to switch back to vikhr and pick of a btr I noticed. Am sure the target was locked, cannon rounds would hit or land near, but the missile was way of target. When laser pointed to the ground it shows around 4.1 but on the target it gave a different reading (about 3.5).

I don't know if its something i've done wrong (still fairly new to dcs) or a bug. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm using 1.5.2 beta btw.

Laser echoes? Giving false meter.

And missile can go way off if launch parameters ain't optimal. As Vikhr can drift off the laser cone that is closing in time (Shkval estimates about 7m wide tunnel for Vikhr to fly.

Have not noticed anything off in the Vikhr's so far.

Did you have a "Ta" lock before firing?

Easy to do. I burned my laser out before now. Now I switch it on near the target area.

IIRC there will be no range-indication whatsoever after the laser has overheated, though I might be wrong about this. So, maybe the reason is laser overheat, which requires a cool-down period of 30 minutes IIRC. Lots and lots of good info on the forum why it overheats and how to make the best use of it.

Option 2, wind. Vikhrs can be easily affected by wind, especially when it's a cross-wind. The Abris should have info on wind direction and speed, or simply observe chimneys and smoke-columns to estimate wind direction and speed.

Option 3, helicopter movement during and after launch. As was said before, Vikhrs are so-called "beam riders". If they get out of the laser-beam, or laser-cone, they'll just veer of course and hit pretty much anything except the intended target. So keep it steady. It's okay to fly forward at anywhere from 0 to 250 kph, but lateral movement should be avoided during and after launch.

If it happens again, feel free to save the track after the mission and post it here so we can take a look, although I'd much prefer it if you found a way to force the problem as quickly as possible so we don't have to watch you shooting targets for two hours until very important stuff happens inside of 5 seconds... (tracks can be fast forwarded, which usually breaks them, and they can't be rewinded...).
