:helpsmilie: Hi guys. I'm new to all of this so bear with me please. ggg87, I've tried the things you said to try but for some reason I'm still zoomed in more than yours and when I look down I can maybe see the top of the joystick. No way can I see the legs, etc. Also, when I pan from left to right I can only see maybe to the tip of the wings and barley the top of the missles hanging from the wing. This condition gets worse if I zoom out any more. I have no idea what I've done wrong but any help would be appreciated. As I said before I'm new to all of this meaning new to flight sims, editing files etc. I'm running my resolution at 3840x1024. Don't get me wrong, I had a blast this weekend blowing up tanks and shotting down planes in the quick fly's this weekend but I'd like to get the whole visual package to help with the immersion factor. :joystick:

hello tooldaddy, glad to see another th2go user, welcome aboard.

i am more than happy to help resolve your setup problems, now lets get the basics sorted out.

firstly which planes are you flying, best to concentrate on one for now to keep things simple, so lets say the f-15 as an example.

its all a bit of trial and error, the figures i give are just a basic setup and your taste may vary, just like with the trackir profiles.

the view limitations are adjusted in the file view.lua

the trackir limitations are adjusted in the server.lua

i think these two files are found in the config folder.

and each plane has its own line containing variables you can edit.

not sitting in front of a lockon pc right now so i will return with more settings and values and exact locations to try once i can confirm them.

ps: tooldaddy, please list your pc specs for interest sake.

stay tuned and stick with it, you will be very pleased once its sorted.

edit: after saying all that, maybe you simply need to hit the / key or the * key on the numberpad, as you still have to adjust your zoom, changing the figures in the lua files just changes the available range, the way i have it setup at present is to make the zoon in limit and zoom out limit the same, this way it only requires a tap of the / key and it jumps straight to you desired zoom.

(175 i think is about all you can go up to).

get back to me and let me know some more details and i am sure we will find the answer.

Wholy S!, this is amazing! I m drooling over and over. If Devs could fix the remaining Problems especially for Multiplayer, this would make me concider the TH2go.

agreed, the bezel edge of the lcd's does ruin the whole illusion somewhat.

i sacrifice approximately an inch on the outside edge of the side screens to keep the picture aligned across the bezels, otherwise you are left with a step effect betwen screens.

once i got used to it, i pretty much stay focused on the centre screen and the sides just help, with the zoom issue, the side screens distort a little,

and make things look closer than they do in the centre view. fps shooters etc all seem to do the same thing unfortunately, apparently its just the way it is.

i think the only answer is to get three lcd projectors :)

Thanks for the reply ggg87. I don't know if I mentioned this in my previous post or not but when I zoom out it seems that my verticle range of view decreases even more. If I zoom out all the way I can barely see the radar looking down as far as it will go. And I believe you posted that you can turn all the way back and see the headrest (or somewhere near). I can only turn to the tips of the wings. Forget about seeing the bottom of the canopy. If I want to look at the ground I have to roll the plane, then look over. After seeing your pics :worthy: :worthy: :worthy: I GOTTA HAVE IT!!! My specs are:

A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard

AMD 64x2 4400+ processor

Dual 200 Gig HD's SATA @7200rpm

2 Gigs of RAM

BFG 7900 GTX OC video card (waiting for prices to go down for the second one. )

3 ViewsonicVX922 ( I think) @ 2msec. response time.

TrackIR 3 PRO.

And last but CERTAINLY not least, the TH2GO.

Do you need to know anything else?

P.S. I'm really happy you replied. Thought maybe it was dead. Now maybe there's hope.

OH! Whenever I try to do the training missions, the arrow is way off! It's talking about the altimiter and it's circling somewhere in the middle of the widow/canopy/whatever you call it, lol. Is there any way to fix that?

After further review, I can see everything just fine.....now that I'm in the F-15 LOL! It doesn't seem to be the same for the WartHog which is the one I thought I'd start off with for a beginner's starting point. Any way you could tell me what the maximum and minimum values are? (i.e. horizontal angle max, vertical angle min, vertical angle max) I've been playing with it but for some reason I can't get it to look down any futher than it does. I started with the same values but makes no difference. I'm also curious about the TrackIR zoom thing. Didn't know about that.

to the best of my knowledge we are stuck with the limited look down and the fact that it gets worse the more you look around towards the wing and beyond.

as for the lessons or training tracks, i don't think they are designed to be played in this non standard view arrangement.

best to do them with the stock view settings.

on the eagle f-15, i am reasonably happy with the view range achieved by the mods made so far but i am guessing we may be able to get a better look out and down from the cockpit if we increase the default height of the pilots viewpoint, somewhere in the configs i am sure there is a setting to do so, maybe that will help.

i have only just started playing with the settings on the a-10.

on initial testing i have used the same settings as for the eagle and i found this to be acceptable, although i am not really a ground pounder and maybe this is where adjusting the pilots viewpoint height may be of benefit to achieve a better view towards the ground.

and may i stress not to attempt going beyond 180 on the zoom, as this tends to lockup the pc, must be just to much to think about :)

as for the trackir, i have spent many hours experimenting with the curves and smoothing, with the increased workload generated by using such a big res with the th2go, it seems important to get things working smoothly, and as such i recommend trying the default smooth curves on the axis and setting the smoothing slider to approx 25-50%

its just a matter of trial and error, i will try out the viewpoint settings on the weekend and see what i can find...

your system specs are better than mine, and for that i hate you :megalol:

not really, but just a bit...

would be cool to decide on a common graphics setup for both nvidia driver and ingame and run a few test scenarios to compare the performance between our pc's.

i am currently running:

a64 3200+ s939 (did have a 3400+ s754) but wanted s939 to get an x2 4800+

A8V deluxe

agp 6800 ultra

2gig corsair xms pro

if you are willing, we can discuss a common setup to run a few tests to compare.

I'm sure we could do that. At the moment I have uninstalled the game and re-installing it. I think I may have screwed up a bunch of stuff looking for some of the "camera" views. Do you have a ventrillo server or Teamspeak server you use? It would make things easier since I seem to over analyze everything.

Hopefully I can get this thing to run again.

If it makes you feel any better I'm using a MS Sidewinder FFB2 for a stick. No comparison to your Hotas. :joystick:

Okay. I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Now this puuppy is lookin GOOOOOOD! Thanks ggg87. You da Man!!!!

The zoom thing ...are you having a problem w/ your TrackIR 3 zooming? I ask because before I started uninstalling and re-installing LOMAC FC I couldn't zoom in or out w/ TrackIR. I had to use the (/ &*) keys. Since I was having problems getting my TrackIR to work at all while re-installing everything I decided to uninstall TrackIR and re-install it w/ an older version of software and now it works fine. I loaded up TrackIR_4.1.026.Final.

I changed the views for the A-10 to the same as the F-16 and it works good as well. It just seems to lag when I look too fast or something. I'll have to play around w/ it.

Thanks Again ggg87!

that would be really cool if they could make a kind of wrap around flexible LCD screen...... :music_whistling:

There is something out there but I can't remember what i did with the link.

and thats all the thanks i need, glad to be of assistance and great to hear you sorted it out, i was thinking you may have had the zoom axis unticked in the old install of the trackir software, but thats neither here nor there now. :)

janko,

the f-15 joystick is from a company called Suncom, the model is a talon-e they are old gameport connection in combination with a keyboard pass thru, it also has a matching split throttle with programable buttons to emulate key combinations etc.

you often see them on ebay. there is a budget model with no programable buttons and one big red light rather than a coolie hat.

unfortunately, and much to my dissappointment these sticks were of fairly poor build quality, the axis responding erratically after a short period of time seemed to be the most common issue, as for the actual action or feel of the stick you could not ask for more.

it works on a pivot point and a spring similar to a saitek hotas, unlike the ch gear i am now using which has a noticable transition felt between axis as it has seperate springs for each axis.

Posted

Are there any hotas out there with FFB? I have the x45 but they're huge and uncomfortable to be honest (and no FFB). The reason I ask about the FFB is that I had a game long ago I think it was jetfighter IV or something like that and got into a flat spin and just the fight to get control was awsome. The stick was going back and forth, etc. It really gave me the "Oh S@%t!" factor. Now having never flown a jet I don't know if that is what really happens, but it was cool non the less. I'm looking for something good, not a piece of junk. I would appreciate any help on this.

i dont know if your have tried it yet, but if you were to overlap the monitors it would decrease the amount of space in the middle of them..by that i mean start from left to right with monitors 1,2,3 you put the right side of monitor 1 behind the left side of monitor 2 and the left side of monitor 3 behind the right side of 2, or vice versa u can put them in front..so u get a stacked setup, so instead of having a half inch gap between them it will be only a quater of an inch, hope that makes sense, dont know if its possible with the way its designed but might help..solution B would be to get on of these

http://www.seamlessdisplay.com/products_radius320.htm

always wanted one of these but they are just too expensive i mean they're like 7k or something, it just ridiculos..

EDIT: yeah hers a quote about it

"No price is specified on the website, but Seamless Display promises to email back more details to people who fill out a request form. According to German website Golem.de, the monitor will be available in early 2007 for around $16,000."

Like this? (powered by triplehead) [brag on] :)

From the side gaps are seen

Better from the pilots seat, just real hard to photograph

i have tried what you are saying but i found the slight depth difference to be more off putting than the wider gaps.

each to there own but personally i didn't like it.

another thing, especially for racing games was for your line of sight to be positioned in the centre of the screens vertically, otherwise the horizontal plain seems to be bending.

other th2go owners should know what i mean here.

bnepethomas,

so you got your 3 projectors, unfortunately i am blocked by corporate firewall and cannot see your images as yet.

edit: oh i see em now, in all their glory, that looks great.

awesome setup mate, if i have been good i think santa might be bringing me a pt-ax100e :D

i don't know much about them, i am told 3xlcd is the way to go, along with being 16:9 good for watching dvd's etc and this one does 1280x720 native, so i wonder how the th2go would do running @ 3x1280x720 ?

! idea: will try on my 3 monitors.

(i will apologise in advance for my poor terminology),

1, you say the side are 800x600 but the centre is 1024x768, if so how have you configured the res, can you only run @ what the sides can do or does it scale the signal.

eg: are you limited to 2400x600 or can you force the sides to upscale to 1024x768, or even 1280x1024.

2, will th2go be happy running @ 1280x720x3 ?

wicked to finally see the 3 projectors setup, you have made me a tad envious, ok maybe more than a tad :D

Two of the monitors are LCD, one one is DLP, haven't seen any hassles. I did think about using wide screen projectors, but wasn't so sure the Triplehead would handle it.

I run 3072x768, and let the lower resolution projector upscale, as its only on the side.

its a beautiful thing alright, its impressive.

3072x768 is still up there and its the native res for the centre, sweet.

i tried 3840x720 @ aspect of 5.333333333, full screen = 0 and it worked across the 3x19" lcd and just cropped it like a widescreen dvd, futher reducing the view but working.

more inquiries:

do you see any difference in the image of the native res centre screen compared to the scaled sides?

how would you say the projectors compare to an lcd monitor, do they for instance have a millisecond rating like 8ms?

either way its looking good.

ps: can't recall, are you using trackir ?

AJ.eightFive, no worries, it has been my leisure (pleasure) :D

an old thread but a good one, it took heaps of messing around to find the ideal configuration, i hope you enjoy yours as much as i do mine, and digital too, 3x 22" wide, sexy :).

did you pick the oxymoron, never thought i would say 'sexy' and 'wide' in the same sentence...

love to hear how you go with it, hope this thread helps you configure it, cheers, ggg.

ps: did you see bnepethomas' triple projector setup, now thats a sight to behold, always gotta be someone who recons theirs is bigger, unfortunately for us a picture tells a thousand words,

so does 3 tell 3000 words, i guess it does :)

As a longtime Lockon owner.... and somewhat recent TH2Go owner.... is there any recent indication that this issue will be resolved in a patch?

Lockon is such a great program... and now that graphics hardware can REALLY make it shine... I *beg* the devs to make this one fix to the graphics engine.

*begging off* :)

Hi guys, sorry for being almost two years late to the party. :) If you guys ever need to have some triplehead-specific questions answered, please PM me at SimHQ. I don't visit here regularly so I will almost certainly miss threads like this.

ggg87, thanks for spearheading this effort. You have gotten the F-15 view limits looking better than I ever managed. What I'd like to know is if there is a list of settings for every Lock On 1.1 aircraft to achieve the best view flexibility.

i second this request,

if we are lucky enough to see a LOFC final patch,

then hopefully the coding issue descibed earlier in this thread by Tekateka might just get sorted out.

will check now that it has been mentioned in the patch request thread, good thinking mate.

i have only toyed with the eagle but i would say at a guess most aircraft could be set up in a similar way.

cheers Joe for the kind words, so many people do great things for this sim and its community, this is just my small contribution, and my only claim to fame :)

also a big thanks to simHQ for those recent videos from beachAv8r.

Hi ggg

I am now thinking about going into THtoGo, what is the situation as of now? I see that most of this thread is pretty old? Is the game playable with 3 monitors?

Could it be better with a 30'' display and say a nice 9800GTX at 2560x1600 or you think that 3 monitors is still better?

I couldnt find an answer on the question of FPS and those huge resolutions? I have a decent system (one and a half year old good system : Core2Duo E6600, 2 Gigs of RAM, nVidia 7950x2 .

thanks
