enigma6584 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Should be a rotary button on the lower left side of the Altitude Indicator. Turn it and you adjust QFE.
chris9932 Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 Thank you, but I know where is the button, I would mean: for example: when the tower say qfe 26.76, on the altitude indicator it ll be on 1000 is there a conversion to do? , on the A10c I just need to set on 26.76 but in the mirage it seems a different method... Sorry fo my english
Dingo_Bob Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) handy page for conversions http://www.hochwarth.com/misc/AviationCalculator.html I think iirc you multiply the QFE inHg by 33.86 or 33.87 to get mbar so 26.76*33.87= 906mbar? spiddx Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 As a sidenote: if you are on 2.0 don't believe the ATC, it is bugged and gives you wrong numbers. I believe the devs practically said not to bother for now and to wait for the new ATC to arrive. Nealius Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Alternatively, you don't even need prompt from the tower and your altimeter should be set before taxi anyway. QFE sets the altimeter to 0 so all you have to do is set your altimeter to 0 and you're set. I prefer to set my altimeter to airfield elevation above sea level (QNH) so as to not get negative altitude readings when flying low, and also because it's pretty much the standard in real aviation.

Essentially QFE is only useful at/near sea level, because it gives you the adjusted height above ground. QNH won't zero your altimeter, but it'll make your charts of airport altitudes (taken with 29.92) accurate, such that if the chart says, say, 1507 feet, you'll touch down when your altimeter says 1507 feet as well. Corsair Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 QFE is poor's man radar altimeter, and can be handy during visual approaches circuit.
chris9932 Posted February 10, 2016 Author Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) thank you for your answer,I think QNH is easier to use than QFE Edited February 10, 2016 by chris9932
gospadin Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 thank you for your answer,I think QNH is easier to use than QFE Yup, just have to wait on ATC 2.0 for it though. =P My liveries, mods, and missions for DCS:World M-2000C English Cockpit | Extra Beacons Mod | Nav Kneeboard | Community A-4E
Flamin_Squirrel Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 QFE is poor's man radar altimeter, and can be handy during visual approaches circuit. Well, you can't fly an accurate circuit on radio/radar altimeter.
