Rawx Najjar Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I did a search on this, most people said you have to manually press the next waypoint button, but a post in this thread describes a way to make the PVI do this automatically: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108303 0. Disable route mode. 1. Toggle whichever PVI mode you're in to off, so that there are no lights on the panel, and make sure the knob is in OPER mode. 2. Set the desired heading/desired track switch on the AP panel to desired heading. (You might be able to leave this one out—it's not on the checklist I keep by my computer, but I can't remember if it works without it). 3. Press the Waypoint (WP) button on the PVI. 4. Press the number button for the first waypoint in the route, then press enter. 5. Repeat for subsequent waypoints in the sequence. 6. Press the Waypoint button on the PVI again to turn off waypoint mode and save the sequence. 7. Press the WP button again to turn waypoint mode back on, then engage route mode. Now, people in the thread say this worked for them, but it doesn't work for me. I follow the steps as described, but when entering the sequence into the PVI, I press WP1 button and it displays the coordinates, I press Enter and then press WP2, however now coordinates do not show. I continue the sequence regardless of this but in the end it does not work, I turn off WP select button at the end, turn it back on and engage route mode, absolutely nothing happens, the PVI shows no coordinates. Route mode is turned off all the time while I enter the sequence, and desired heading is enabled as per instruction. Since other people in the thread report that it works, I'm wondering where I'm going wrong.
Fishbreath Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 It's possible that they've broken it in the move to 1.5/2.0. I've been looking for a reason to hop into the Ka-50 for a bit of fun lately; maybe I'll give it a try tonight. Martillo1 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Well, you have to push a waypoint number after enabling WP again. I tested the procedure from the manual yesterday and worked as it should.. Vista, Suerte y al Toro! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rogue Trooper Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 You need to manually change if you are not in AP route mode, the Abris updates or changes waypoint as long as you fly through or near to the next waypoint regardless of route mode being engaged. This method described I never tried. DieHard Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) I rarely use a mission waypoint for very long as the pre-programmed path takes me right into immediate danger. I usually fly free-hand (not in autopilot) in Flight Director mode and ease my way into the combat zone on my own path. I do like using the automatic "r" route mode "Air Field" push button key to fly back to base if I am not too badly damaged and it still functions. I know, not the answer to your inquiry. Best advice---go find Cooper---he probably knows. He hangs out usually on Devilman's New Zealand based server, the old S77th squad. Currently there is a UK based copy of this MDS server : http://www.maddog-simulations.com/ On the Nevada map I frequent the F99th server in MP, I have seen Cooper there once in awhile, lately. I'm a bit of a loner type. Cooper is good company if you want some fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Going to experiment with your quoted procedure above. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ See Section 14 of Chuck's guide. Well, Chuck is the opposite of this; he sees stuff and presents it in a way so anybody can understand it, better. Edited February 27, 2016 by DieHard [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
flanker0ne Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Check the manual, on pg 320 or 9-4 Changing the WP sequence 1. Set the PVI mode selector to the “РАБ” (Normal operation) position. 2. Set the “ЗК-ЛЗП” (Desired Heading – Desired Track Angle) switch on the Autopilot panel (right side panel) to the “ЗК” (DH) position. 3. Press the “ППМ” (WP) push-button on the PVI. 4. Using the PVI keypad, select the WP number selected as initial. After doing so, the number of the pre-programmed WP is displayed on the Waypoint display. 5. Press the “ВВОД” (Enter) button and the initial WP is loaded in the PNK. 6. Repeat this procedure for the rest of the WPs in the new sequence. 7. After inputting the last WP, press the “ППМ” (WP) push-button again. The WP sequence will then be saved in navigation computer memory. Rawx Najjar Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 ^This is the same as the procedure described in the OP.
Frederf Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) I tried this in the latest 2.0 version and it works still. Starting from OPER master mode, WP task light illuminated but Route off (and possibly descent or hover off too). Press the first waypoint button that you want on your route, it will display the L/L and also the point number on the right. If using WP task and already have the first waypoint selected it is not necessary to cycle the WP task light. Press enter. The L/L values should go blank but the waypoint digit on the right display will remain. If the L/L is not blanked when you press enter for the first time then something is done wrong. Press the next waypoint button in sequence and it will show just the right display digit (and not the L/L) for this waypoint button. If L/L is not blank on pressing the next waypoint then something is wrong. Press enter again. Repeat the process with unique waypoints until the route memory is filled (up to 6). When you are done making the route turn off the WP task light to save the changes. In the case that the full 6 route is used then the waypoint number on the right will extinguish on the last waypoint entered for a totally blank PVI. Now resume use normally. I didn't have a problem with DH-DT switch being in DT position but I was making my first waypoint #1 in all cases (since #2, #3, #4 were 999km+ away, see below). Notice you cannot manually enter longitude more west than -90°00.0' until a bug is fixed. Edited March 1, 2016 by Frederf
Rawx Najjar Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Will check once again, following the above, and record a video of it not working if it still doesn't work. Thanks.
