SUBS17 Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 In previous versions of DCS you could select a SAM battery eg S300 or patriot and it would place the entire unit on the map with all the support vehicles it would be cool to have this back plus additionally a similar feature for artillery batteries / regiments. Realistic unit composition and formation to make it easier for using the ME with SAM/Artillery placement. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Aginor Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Last I checked they were working. There were not many templates though. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
Northstar98 Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 You can, but with templates - there aren't many that are stock so for the most part you'll have to make them yourself. Whilst this can sometimes be quite finicky at times, it shouldn't take too long before you've set up a few basic ones (SAM sites, air defence groups, EWR positions with support vehicles etc). The good thing is is that you can select the formation to be your template should the need arise (not sure how good it actually works though). apolloace Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Only the S300 & Patriot systems are included as stock. If you want other types of SAM systems you have to make a template yourself. There are pros & cons to this. Pros: You can customize what type of units & how many of them you want. If you have a low-end to mid-range spec PC, you would want to minimize the no. of units and only place the mission critical units in a Group or System. I find this extremely useful. Cons: Most of the time, the custom-made Templates are not realistic enough. So, if you prefer ultra-realism you would need templates build by military experts. Focha Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 There is a lot of information about SAM sites around the internet. Some even depicts the units positions and distances from each units. Take a look around and I'm sure you'll find. http://www.ausairpower.net/sams-iads.html ASUS N552VX | i7-6700HQ @ 2.59GHz | 16 GB DDR3 | NVIDIA GF GTX 950M 4 Gb | 250 Gb SSD | 1 Tb HD SATA II Backup | TIR4 | Microsoft S. ellutscho Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I think it would be very useful in all of dcs map to have option to set stationary sam sites active or not. Pending on which one is relevant. SUBS17 Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Like Falcon 4, sounds like a good idea although it would depend on the theatre. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
