IcarusGR Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Now that the Mirage is out, I think we really need a home... A server and TS3 where people can study and practice the mirage without the annoying presence of the F-15 and that stupid amraam and the Mig-29/Su-27 with the hated ET missiles. We need a Mirage - Mig21 - Helicopters server. If such a server/TS3 shows up, I would be very interested in helping new players get set up and have training lessons. Let me know what you think... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was a good kill...
VTJS17_Fire Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 So you need a server with inferior opponents with older and less capable avionics/ weapons? Maybe one of the WWII server admins add a few Mirages in their missions. :D Try the MiG-29A/G/S with a loadout from the 1980s and it's still challenging for both sides. 1 Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! IcarusGR Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 Not what I said... In the state the plane is right now (no IFF - no Radar elevation etc.) it is not capable of handling the Mig 29s... As the Mirage gets more complete yes it will be able to handle more advanced threats... But today, with half the jet complete, I think its too much to ask from the new guys to go up against such advanced and complete threats / weapons. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was a good kill...
Conroy Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Mirage will be soon good enough for both F-15 and Su-27.

IcarusGR Posted March 10, 2016 Author Posted March 10, 2016 You will have IFF and radar elevation as soon as tomorrow :) Great news. But still its not the question of the plane being capable, its the question of the hundreds of people who will find the new jet interesting and want to learn it from scratch... Anyway, its the Mig-21 discussion all over again. Lets get the hard-to-learn jets in the same place with the 3-button and 8 BVR missiles FC3 planes and call it a fair fight. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was a good kill...

I hate FC3 planes not because they are more performant jets but it's because of their arcade systems. Their radars can detect in no time a low flying helo, you need to clicks to lunch an AMRAAM.
VTJS17_Fire Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Mirage will be soon good enough for both F-15 and Su-27. I don't think so. I fighter with SARH missiles will be always less capable as a fighter with SARH missiles. That's the nature of SARH. You can put less pressure on the enemy and have limited possibility in tactics. In a real world mission environment, of course. Not the - no AWACS/ GCI human support - like on the most servers. Lets get the hard-to-learn jets in the same place with the 3-button and 8 BVR missiles FC3 planes and call it a fair fight. I flew the F-15C 8 years (or so) and people have the same beginner problems, like in the full DCS aircraft. There aren't only 3 buttons ... ;) ... and the Eagle is also in real life more automated, so what's the point? Conroy Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 We'll see, but personally i will accept the gauntlet flying the Mirage. I love it, really. Who care about AIM-120 and F-15 when we have this Mirage? For sure, we need a competitive S-530 and Magic, or we are talking about nothing.
Redacuragsr Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I have it and I have no problem dogfighting F-15s and SU 27. Dogfighting yes....BVR is a different story, I think a Mig-29A with the 80's load out is a pretty challenging and a fair opponent for the Mirage even in its current stage.

There aren't only 3 buttons ... ;) ... and the Eagle is also in real life more automated, so what's the point? It is not about the number of switches, the systems are simplified, especially the radar. The world load is very low. In the real Flanker and the F15C that is modeled it is not like this. Even the F16 in BMS that is more modern the pilote has a heavier workload.

BVR is a bit hairy at times, but even flankers have serious issues against it in WVR, so it evens out nicely IMHO
Calman Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) Dogfighting yes....BVR is a different story, I think a Mig-29A with the 80's load out is a pretty challenging and a fair opponent for the Mirage even in its current stage. Even in BVR I have killed my fair share of F-15s using the Super 530. Its just knowing how to avoid missles until you can get close. Even though I have been shot down mostly by AIM 120s its still a fun challenge. actually, everything with an 80's loadout is fair game. BVR is a bit hairy at times, but even flankers have serious issues against it in WVR, so it evens out nicely IMHO This is my honest opinion as well. King_Hrothgar Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 Same. The Mirage 2000C S5 RDI we have rolled off the assembly line in 1987. It's actually newer than both the MiG-29A and the Su-27S but older than the F-15C we have. In terms of workload, it isn't a MiG-21. I find it to be about the same as the FC3 F-15. It has a dozen switches for the startup process instead of 3, but that's meaningless in combat. In combat, the only additions are the master arm and FBW modes. That isn't exactly a crippling workload, especially since that stuff isn't typically messed with in combat anyways. Those bits are taken care of before hand.
