There was someting in our papers about a chap who owne's a Trucking buisiness did a swap with the ministery of defence..lorries for a Harrier. If it's that story IIRC it served in the Falklands Campaign and Helped sink the Belgrano. Be Good..Be Strong..:drink: ;)
Pilotasso Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 There are several fliable harriers versions in Wings Over Europe. .

Andrew_McP Posted August 10, 2006 Author Posted August 10, 2006 Well unless that harrier could travel underwater, fire Mk 8 torpedoes and was named "HMS Conqueror" I doubt it was involved in the sinking of the belgrano. :-) Though I feel vaguely uncomfortable smiling about anything related to the Belgrano. Having said that, although I used to think it was an unnecessary sinking, a documentary I watched last year pointed out just how vulnerable the UK task force was. Sinking the Belgrano might have been a horrible act of war (assuming there's any other kind!) but it seemed to persuade the rest of the Argentine fleet to stay at home, which was vital to the task force's success. Anyway, back to this harrier... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/08/07/harrier_jet/ ...gives more details. Andrew McP PS No engine, sadly.
DPS Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 £65,512.34 for a Harrier gate guardian - just a bit too expensive for me. As a matter of interest (a question for the devs here), what is the approximate cost of implementing each additional flyable aircraft in Lock On? Thinking more about fixed-wing here as I'm sure that the time and effort required for the Ka-50 will make that a massive undertaking.
Frostie Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 I was twitching on selling the house and living in it , but the no engine bit dampened my desire .:( "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. Lord Flashheart 51st PVO "Bisons" - 100 KIAP Regiment Fastest MiG pilot in the world - TCR'10 https://100kiap.org
Kindred Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 This aircraft has been fully decommissioned and comes without engines and weaponry and is therefore for display purposes only. :P Maybe I can fit it in my living room for display purposes:lol:
pschelchshorn Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 its a Harrier with the Blue Vixen Radar, those types didnt even exist in 1982.. tflash Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 If it would still have its engines and weaponry, the buyer could set up a more decent fleet defense than the Uk will be able to in the next couple of years ;) Maybe they should try to buy it back! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
