TMatzelle60 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 God why is it so hard to pick a joystick love the look of X-55 but worry to much about problems.
StandingCow Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Just buy it from a store that is easy to return to, like amazon. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
Bearfoot Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 FWIW, I've had the X-55 now for several months. So far, so good. I, too, have heard lots of bad things. I'm pretty much waiting for the shoe to drop. Until then, however, I'm getting some great use out of it. The biggest annoyance was ghosting -- i.e., fake key presses. Has not happened in a long while now. Apparently it is a common issue. With different causes: TeamSpeak settings, plugging into an non-powered USB hub, some Windows 7 USB management settings, etc. etc. Tried all of these (except the Windows 7 thing: I run windows 10), but none of it helped. Then, one day it stopped. Don't know why it stopped. But it did, and for that, I'm glad. Previously I would randomly fire off flares and chaff or something else on the throttle key map would be triggered. But for a long while now, it has been all good. The last thing I tried (and still have it set up this way) was to plug both the stick and throttle into computer motherboard ports directly. Maybe that fixed it, though IIRC correctly, I was still getting some ghost presses for a short while after I made change. Other major cons are: (a) the CMS switch on the control stick is just press-down switch, rather than a 4-way hat + press. For this reason alone, I would look at the X-56. Annoying to map CMS to the left. (b) All the switches at the top of the control stick are too high to reach when in the normal resting position. You have to lift your hand off the resting switching and back down again. This appears to be the same with the X-56. © The throttle is actually pretty decent, and more functions, and especially more rotaries/axes than the TM Warthog. The mouse nipple is not great, but works OK enough when properly mapped. (d) It's not a TM Warthog.
DUSTY Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 The X-55 looks so good and is well priced but there are two factors that mean I won't consider purchasing it. 1. Single Stage trigger. 2. No 4-way TDC. Also I've heard it can be quite unergonomic in terms of the hat switch placement on the stick and throttle. Gladman Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I've had my x55 for better than 2 years. Probably close to 3. Not a days problem. Why this big anti-Saitek thing exists when TM has just as many problems is beyond me. I've owned CH/Saitek/and TM. The only one that proved to be bulletproof was CH but their design is less than appealing. For the price of a X55 or X56 I guess, just go for it. Keep in mind that a percentage of all problems with products are user based. i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+ VFA-25 Fist Of The Fleet [sigpic]http://forums.eagle.ru/signaturepics/sigpic99190_2.gif[/sigpic] Virtual Carrier Strike Group 1 | Discord
