With the option "realistic A-A" pipper, the pipper still seems to follow a target when in range....

Almost getting the impression that this patch/previous one has messed up more than they fixed....

Does it happen in every user-made mission, or in tutorial one? Mid You, the latter have fixed realism settings which overlay Your own.

If you choose HO+SS = GunPiper must be fixed, at distance 300m, but now doesn't matter Gyro mode or SS mode. If you choose H0 - piper work in gyromode.

It's possible that the option looks selected but isn't. If the checkbox is in the state you want it, try to select its opposite state, press the "OK" button to save the changes. Then return to the options and change the option back to the state you want and press OK again.

Special options I do not think are altered by mission difficulty settings but to be sure make a new mission in ME and test behavior with that. Old missions can have very weird behavior across patch versions.

In any case, in the mode of the SS-H0, sight should not floating, it should work in fixed mode.

I believe Neuman is not talking about the infamous floating pipper for IR guided missiles, but about the fact that in some non-gyro modes (for strafing or firing unguided rockets) it still behaves as if it was in gyro.

I've noticed it myself too during first 1.5.4 flight, but since the gunsight is probably still WIP, I don't know if it's worth putting in bugtracker now.

I guess it's important to distinguish between the pipper snapping to missile LOS (fictional option) and the reticle swaying in a gyro-like sway due to aircraft maneuvers but not to missile LOS.

"SS" mode is electromagnetically clamped. Perhaps there was a change to the ASP and the clamping is not perfectly strong and rigid.

I tried this and playing online.

The piper follows the IR target instead of staying in the middle.

I tried re selecting the option and still the piper.

The online server may be enforcing the less realistic option? Compare to offline behavior.

Can a server enforce something that is a special option, and not a mission editor option?

In MP the piper is snapping to target, like when the realistic piper option is off. In SP it does not.

I experience the same. I'm only laying MP and the pipper will follow the targets, even though I have turned it off in the special settings. I was also under the impression that these settings can't be overwritten by the server.

I personally don't have the old IR reticle following targets in the mp, but it would be worthwhile to check more servers and/or backup your config file and let dcs create a new one at least for trying if it helps or not.

On a side note, I remember flying Dora on one server and noticed different behaviour during takeoffs. Then I noticed it moves the rudder itself, so take off assist was forced on iirc. There were servers with some slots labeled as 'easy' and others as 'sim', so I would suspect the easy ones were with assists. Was a while ago though, either late v1.2 or early 1.5.

I don't think so. Do you have more than one logbook character? Does it do "snap reticle" on every MP server?

I do have multiple characters. I'll try different server, hopefuly tonight.

Guys we can't comment this issue without see the realistic settings of the MP or SP mission, also you need see miscellaneous tab for Mig-21 in game option and check the pipper box enforcement.

Anyway if you go in a MP server that enforce easy avionic then this option overwrite your personal game options.

Please upload a picture or a track of the server or mission you play and upload a picture of your personal game option, then we can see better what is going on.

This may be the issue. Go through all of your logbook characters and set each of them individually for this option. Click at least once the checkbox for the option even if it is correct. For example if it is off, click once to turn it on. If it is on, click twice to turn it off then back on. This will force the option to update.

I did that, made no difference. I doublechecked that the option is on.

Here's a short video:

It's the same server (BASIS MiG-21 vs F-5E), I'll try different ones later.

Basis server has some assistance enabled, like easy comms and radio, from the quick glance at least. Grunf if you can, try ACG f5e vs mig21 server or singleplayer.

I've just tested the Basis server and indeed piper follows the ir sources there, so I believe the less realistic behaviour and/or other assists are forced there, as I don't experience this on other two servers where I fly, nor in the SP.

When there is some kind of doubt about possible bug, SP is your first stop as it offers controlled environment for you to 'experiment' in as MP server settings may vary and only makes life harder by adding more variables to determine whether there is something wrong or not.

I've tried a different server (ACG Mig-21 vs F5, as Spectrum Legacy suggested), and the piper does not follow the target, just as it does not in single player.
