Ramstein Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Memory leak in latest 1.5 non Beta DCS ? I bunch of us flew last night and it was a problem night for most of us, with aircraft losing response after a few minutes, usually we fly a few hours without issues, and change to several aircraft. But this last update seems porked with memory leaks? :helpsmilie: ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
droopy114 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Don't know if it can be called a memory leak, but RAM usage is still very high. I often see a 12/13 Gb RAM usage in multiplayers servers. If you fly in the same area, RAM usage will stay the same, not rising as before. The annoying thing for me is the freeze when new player jump in an aircraft (1s or less).

Concerning my freezes problem, i'm aware that my HDD is certainly the culprit. This will be my next upgrade, along with a GTX 1070 :D. RAM usage is high, but since i have put 16Gb, multiplayers servers are very playable, i can stay for 2/3 hours without crash like before with only 8 Gb of RAM.
609_Relentov Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) Well, I agree something is going on. I find the UI performance degrades very quickly, it's terrible. After rebooting, I start DCS, jump into the Mission Editor, seems to work decent. Then I exit and go into single player mode (click Mission, pick a mission, etc.), and test out a mission offline. Seems OK initially, fly around, etc. Then I hit Esc to get the pop up, click the end mission button, and the screen sits there for 30 seconds at least before the next pop up comes up, then click Cancel to get back to the main menu. If I go back into the Mission Editor, everything slows down... Once I get back into a mission and try to start clicking, there's a 30 second delay between a mouse click and some action taking place... It's awful. I have to exit out and (sometimes) reboot in order to get back to a workable Mission Editor. I have DCS on a 128GB Samsung SSD, with 16GB RAM, Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz CPU, and an EVGA GTX 970 w/4GB VRAM, running Win 7 home premium. I've tried doing a DCS repair, but it didn't seem to help. Anyone noticing a degradation of DCS performance after working with the UI/ME, flying offline and then getting back into the ME? EDIT #1: Let me clarify my statement.... I see the pattern. When I said I would test out a mission offline, I was flying the M-2000C Mirage. Then I would get this terrible behavior when I tried to go back into the ME and it was very unresponsive. I just tried it again, but avoiding flying the M-2000C, just tried the Su-25T, for example. When I exited the mission (much faster this time) and then went back into the ME, it seemed to function normally. So maybe the performance/memory leak issue is with the M-2000C module specifically. Raven434th Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) I concur...something is going on that makes loading take waaayyy to long.I gotta wonder if its not a case of DCS getting too bloated. For me alot of the time it switches back and forth between interfaces....black screen....splash screen.....mission load...then back to a splash screen. Then it will cycle that way at random times.I loaded it on a laptop today to serve as a dedicated mission server(stock no modules added)...took 15 minutes to load on a quadcore with 6 gig ram. Coug4r Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 When hosting DCS slowly eats the memory away as well, in the end it'll crash. - If man were meant to fly he'd be filled with helium.

Raven434th Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Maybe should be noted that when I say "load" I don't mean install...I mean load game from desktop to server UI to pick missions....that took 15 minutes MODUALS OWNED AH-64D APACHE, Ka-50, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, Mi-24,MiG-29 FF, Gazelle, FC3, A-10C, A-10CII, Mirage 2000C, F-14 TOMCAT, F/A-18C HORNET, F-16C VIPER, AV-8B/NA, F-15 E, F-4 Phantom, MiG-21Bis, L-39, F-5E, AJS 37 Viggen, MiG-19, F-86, MiG-15Bis, Spitfire IX, Bf-109K, Fw-190D, P-51D, CA, COLD WAR GERMANY,SYRIA, AFGHANISTAN,NEVADA, NORMANDY, PERSIAN GULF, MARIANA ISLANDS,SUPER CARRIER, WORLD WAR II ASSETS PACK, HAWK T1 SYSTEM SPECS AMD 7600X 4.7 Ghz CPU , MSI RX 6750 12 gig GPU ,32 gig ram on Win11 64bit.
BadHabit Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Those buildings are eating to many resources for no reason. Flying over a city is a no for me. I don't understand why we care so much for a damn building in a flight sim. fixen Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I believe everyone who has problems, but I don't have any somehow. Solid both online and offline, except for serverside issues and other clients warping because of their high ping, which I do see an increase off. I only have 8GB ram and it is without problems for me. I do have DCS installed on a ssd, the same as my Windows installation. BadHabit Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I'm wondering. Is the video memory on the fps counter reading the GPU memory or the ram.
