The following applies to helos mostly, but maybe also to fixed wing to a lesser degree.

When flying in high threat environments, especially with fighter threats, I like to keep my head down obviously. Especially with the Huey, thanks to his skids, you can fly pretty much at ground level. Now, while it is stealthy against radar, I wonder how visible the dust trail is, that occurs when flying that low? Any experiences, especially from a fighters perspective?

Personally I've never encountered a dust trail as a fighter, but when flying NOE the dust trail always looks so visible.

You have to decide what you want to avoid most, Mark-I-Eyeball or SearchRadar ;)

My personal favourite is to avoid Radar as it has a wider scope. Eyes only see you if they are real close and that is far more seldom.

Still, on a wide open plain it may be better to stay above 20m as your dust is the only thing one will see far & wide.

Above Cities or Villages lower is better, dust is disguised by the ever changing patterns and colors of your surrounding if it develops at all over concrete and tarmac.

So, how close do you need to get to a low flyer for the dust trail to be rendered (on max. settings)?

I've never spotted helos with their dust in MP with fighters. Probably I didn't search it hard enough. But they often show in F-15 powerful radar and I feel pity to send them to the ground....

Me neither, that's why I'm curious at which distance the dust will be visible at max settings. Is dust of other players even visible in MP?

Definitely yes! May be details settings? I can see dust on other choppers since late DCS World 1.2.

The Heli needs to fly really low and over any ground that is not concrete/road.

The smoke pluime is easily visible from above, especially against green fields.
