DaveRindner Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Has anyone here ever exceeded VNE in UH-1H, in level flight below 500m ASL? That would result in retreating blade stall, which may lead to mast bump, which may lead to crash. I am unable to get UH-1H to go faster then 120 knots IAS, in level flight.
WildBillKelsoe Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 perhaps try flying downwind in mission editor with 50 m/s winds? AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.
Tim_Fragmagnet Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) I've gotten the airframe to a terminal velocity of around 217knots while diving straight down from 30,000ft In level flight below 1640ft however, I've gotten it up to 140 knots. Edited May 28, 2016 by Tim_Fragmagnet
Flamin_Squirrel Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 perhaps try flying downwind in mission editor with 50 m/s winds? (Steady) winds have zero affect on airspeed.
gospadin Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I don't Vne can be exceeded in level flight by any airplane or helicopter, short of extremely gusty winds as was mentioned by FlaminSquirrel. If it can, that's a pretty bad design. My liveries, mods, and missions for DCS:World M-2000C English Cockpit | Extra Beacons Mod | Nav Kneeboard | Community A-4E
Belgeode Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Not yet, but give me time, I'll get there eventually. If it can break it, I will likely end up doing it... accidentally of course. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] YouTube ~ Twitch

Aginor Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I have exceeded the VNE and flown the Huey at 140 knots a few times (not in level flight, but in a slight descend). It does feel weird and I think it will damage the heli, but those were emergency situations (during the campaign). Normally I keep it below 110, more like 90-100 knots, which is the speed at which it feels best. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
BSS_Sniper Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 No one should be able to do this without going over EGT limits and even then I don't think it will go that fast in level flight.
