Do you have any information on when you will update the gazelle?

I've just tried it again after installing todays update and the fm feels exactly the same as before ...

theres a bunch of points that I already pointed out in the bug reports and the other things that people have extensively discussed and a bunch of other minor thigns that I noticed but didn't report, because polychop has all my trust to get the problems right in reasonable time, and I am certain that the small things i did not report will get corrected by themselves as the fm progresses. Basically my problem with the FM is that it is very very early (first early access beta release, I do not expect it to be perfect :smilewink:)

the only thing is the trimming and some AP/sas logic, from what i can tell..

It's a bunch of more stuff than that. and you know, trimming in the real one works different than on a spring loaded stick ... I usually dont trim helicopters in sims but have my springs removed. Stick position is different relative to current state of flight (speed/attitude/power etc.) in every helicopter but the current gazelle. But this is not supposed to be a critique thread, Polychop apparently has all the info they need

The FM will be corrected. We went to a french combat helicopter regiment to test out their full cabin sim and compare with the actual on DCS, and we had a gazelle "chief", with 1200hrs on the gazelle to test it out as well.

I never had and still absolutely dont have a single doubt you guys will get it right :smilewink:

Was there changes in this most recent 1.5.3 update? My engine keeps blowing on startup and its never done that. I have not changed my startup procedure at all.

There was an update? This is done automatically I assume, or do I need to do this manually?

It will check for updates once every 24 hours when launched via the normal shortcut. You can also force an update check at any time by running the 'Update DCS World' shortcut. (Assuming the standalone version, of course - Steam version will be updated like other Steam products.)

Yep, turbine damage was added a few (open beta) updates ago, they got pushed to the release version yesterday.

You need to increase the fuel flow slower, to keep the rotor RPM and turbine RPM needles in sync. So basically, you increase the fuel flow to get the turbine RPM to just beyond where the rotor engages (~ 30k), wait for the rotor to catch up, then gradually increase the flow rate til it's at full.

If you just jam the fuel flow to full, the turbine will overspeed and rip itself apart.

Usually friday there will be an update released for either version. You will notice by checking the very first forum (Updates and News), there's only official posts in there with more or less accurate release notes. That's why I'm asking (not everything makes it into the release notes)

Interesting. Did not know that. Looks like theres going to be a few more small changes on the startup then looking at some videos. The ignition switch looks like its not modeled correctly right now. We shall see if that changes.

The ignition switch is correct for the M model. Different versions have different ignition switches.

really? interesting. Didnt know that. All the videos I watched, they only had the ignition switch flipped up till the T4 temp gauge hit 400ish then turned it back to neutral. Thats good to know then. The only videos I can find on the M startup are from DCS.

Remember that different version had different engines and different configurations. The L version will look different on the inside from the M version. Radios will be in different place and weapon panel will be added. It's a pretty diverse airframe.

Can the L variant reach 300km/h or more ?

Most likely not unless you start really high and dive down quickly...but at that speed your more likely to break the helicopter.

The L variant doesn't have the vivian, but it still has a camera up there for recon. Plus it has the rocket pod (which stay on the aircraft all the time) and the 20 mm gun (which also always stays on the aircraft. So weight wise it's comes close to balancing out with the M. So no crazy 300 km/h. Plus do you really want to go that fast 5m off the ground? Think of how you'll scare the poor kids on the ground.

Now that's some proper testing. Just wondering if you can tell us, how he found it?

I'm absolutely loving the challenge, and damn it has certainly improved my flying of the Huey, as I'm now used to making smaller inputs.

Beautiful aircraft and module.

He absolutely loved it. Especially the fact that it is so well modeled. There were 5 or 6 Gaz pilot behind the screen as he was flying, they were really impressed. He just was kind enough to point all the little details he found out to be wrong during the try. As we speak, we are working hard on correcting them.

Glad to hear the feedback from the real pilots is so positive.

I know it's not a priority, but I'm just curious if you could give any rough estimate on the Force Feedback support for the trim? Just to know if we're talking about a few months or it's too far ahead in the future. Thanks :)

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

It's higher on our list of things to work on. I've been working on getting Microsoft Sidewinder with force feedback to test with. I've ordered two and as soon as when they arrive we can start working on it. So sooner rather then later...but probably with be a month or two.

Is it still possible to get a FFB joystick with any quality? It seems to be a highly demanded feature but the hardware hasn't been produced in years.

I use G940 by LOGITECH and it's wonderful for chopper, specially for magnetic trim (like real, stick stay in position after realease trim button).

It's very sad there is not anymore in sale.
