bkthunder Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 (edited) I'd like to sum up here some of the bugs/issues that are bothering me the most, and have been there for a very long time. Please note: I'm not discussing the priority of these over other bugs such as the ASP or the Radar, but these IMO are still issues that deserve to be taken care of, so please let's keep this constructive ;) - Z-issues in side-slip and g meter gauges, as reported both in the bugs section and on LN's bugtracker (https://leatherneck-sim.mantishub.io/view.php?id=253). See pictures attached. - Realistic External sounds not yet implemented - Steering on the ground is too easy, allowing you to steer the airplane to a certain extent without using diff. braking, even at very low speed. The L-39 models this more realistically. - When coming to a stop, tracking the center line, and holding brakes (nosewheel brake engaged), the nosewheel almost always turns right or left on the spot. - (Not sure if realistic or not, please expand) Engine RPM when entering afterburner seem to act weirdly: Sudden jump of the RPM needles when in AB. As far as I could gather, the nozzle opens fully before the AB is engaged, and this should cause a momentary increase in RPM, although judging from the needles, there is a sudden "jump". - Afterburner physics, animation and cockpit indications are out of sync. From the outside view, the sequence is: Nozzle opens fully > Ab turns on. From the cockpit indications: RPM Needles jump > AFB light turn on + sound of AB (noticeable increase in thrust) > "Nozzle Open" Light turn on. So it seems that from the cockpit and FM point of view, the AB turn on much sooner than the nozzle is fully opened, and before the AB flame effect is triggered. - EDIT: Movement of the hyd. gauge needles when moving controls is jerky and not smooth. - (Not sure if realistic or not, please expand) With aileron booster OFF, there is still a drop of hyd pressure when moving the ailerons as if it was on (same values). - (Not sure if realistic or not, please expand) It's possible to start the engine with all booster pumps off. - Missing pilot in the virtual cockpit - Mirror is very dark - AoA probe vibrates when standing still on the ground - Some rotaries/ switches / levers in the pit have the green icon (as if they are functional) but no animation: Suit ventilation, BUS Nr. 1, BUS Nr.2, G-Suit Max/Min Valve, UK2M switches, Harness Loose/Tight & Harness separation, SOD Control PBU-1 & PBU-2 - English cockpit translations incomplete (yes, I am aware there is a freeware mod, still I'd prefer not to have to install a mod) Edited May 29, 2016 by bkthunder Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
bkthunder Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 Should I post each issue separately? Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Frederf Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 I think best practice is to find LNS bugtracker and add it there if not duplicate. It is much more organized than forum post.
CoBlue Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 - Steering on the ground is too easy, allowing you to steer the airplane to a certain extent without using diff. braking, even at very low speed. The L-39 models this more realistically. +1 for all the bugs! But the steering system is not the same as in L-39 . 21's steering shouldn't be compared with L-39. It's more comparable with Mig-15 & that aircraft is easy to taxi. i7 8700k@4.7, 1080ti, DDR4 32GB, 2x SSD , HD 2TB, W10, ASUS 27", TrackIr5, TMWH, X-56, GProR.
bkthunder Posted June 1, 2016 Author Posted June 1, 2016 +1 for all the bugs! But the steering system is not the same as in L-39 . 21's steering shouldn't be compared with L-39. It's more comparable with Mig-15 & that aircraft is easy to taxi. Easy to taxi is ok, but I don't think you should be able to steer left and right by rudder only, at low speed. In the Mig-15 you have to use differential braking all the time. Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Frederf Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 There is an "easy mode" assist that may be on or off in options, special tab for MiG-21.
bkthunder Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 There is an "easy mode" assist that may be on or off in options, special tab for MiG-21. Yeah, easy mode is off but I can still steer it. By the way, can someone confirm the issue with the side-slip and g meter gauges? I posted in the bug tracker, in the Bugs section here, but no feedback. I know for sure I'm not the only one with this issue because I saw a video on Youtube and that guy also has it, but does everyone have it or is it dependent on Ati/Nvidia or similar? Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
Art-J Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 What was the issue? I'll happily do some test flying over Starway's scenery after getting back from work. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Art-J Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 (edited) In the OP - Ah :D :D :D. My brain automatically skipped text not considered important from flight dynamics point of view ;). Will test and confirm later! Edit: After a test flight, the z-issues mentioned in point one are here as well, on a GTX780 card. viperdogsnake Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Gents, I cant stress it enough, "I think", or "I feel it should be like this" is not concrete enough evidence to change it. Yes I agree every bug should be squashed, and we should hold LN to this, but....when I hear a lot of "I'm not sure if this is realistic or not, please expand" it sounds like your unsure yourself, very likely making more work for LN who've had actual MiG-21 pilots in the development team. If you have concrete background/facts for why it should be changed, post the evidence to LN on their bug tracker and I'll give you a thumbs up. Not trying to be a jerk, but realistic here. on

Out of 14 issues I posted, 3 are the "unsure" ones. Feel free to skip those 3 and focus on the other 11 ;) Windows 10 - Intel i7 7700K 4.2 Ghz (no OC) - Asus Strix GTX 1080 8Gb - 16GB DDR4 (3000 MHz) - SSD 500GB + WD Black FZEX 1TB 6Gb/s
