I will update this as I go, and from reading your comments! Thanks for your participation

if possible, leave your rift CV1 out un stored and let the headset air out to let the chemical smell dissipate.

6/2016

Windows installed along with steam

6/12/2016

installed GTX1080. experienced hiccup switching from hdmi monitor to DP monitor. after several re-boots, windows sees DP monitor OK via DP.

6/13/2016

installed Oculus runtime along with the Xbox wireless adapter, xbox controller, oculus remote, oculus camera, and CV1 rift headset and performed calibration. dreamdeck application tests OK

6/17/2016

installed teamspeak. installed config folder in personal folder not installation folder~ strange even turning off UAC, i had an error message with having config folder in the installation folder. at the moment mic and speakers set on default. join teampseak server, rift headset communication OK via rift headset headphones & built-in microphone.

6/18/2016

installed DCS World Open Beta 1.5 (note: oculus rift is detected right away, so disconnect oculus rift from computer, so you can configure DCS world settings, controls, etc on a 2d screen)

installed Thrustmaster Warthog drivers & target software

set mboard BIOS PCIe link speed to gen3 (GTX1080 users ? )

installed ControlMK to map F5 to warthog (facilitate rift recenter/reorient) and map "W" to Saitek Pedals (facilitate wheelbrake on FC3 aircraft)

continued to program buttons and pots for a select DCS aircraft.

6/20/2016

installed Simshaker software and connected buttkicker. Buttkicker shaking only to limited simshaker effects, so mirroring of rift headset audio to allow all audio to be sent to both the rift and the buttkicker so that all low frequencies causes buttkicker to shake PLUS enhanced shake from the simshaker software working along with the default audio. so now the simshaker software with mirrored audio WORKS GREAT!

***STEPS TO MIRROR AUDIO~ steam needed to allow the audio mirroring***

1) (If you haven't already) Setup SteamVR to mirror audio to 'Rift Speakers'. (note: in control panel set the windows sound default playback device to your speakers~ not the oculus rift)

2) Close SteamVR.

3) Change HMD settings in Oculus Home to use 'Windows Default' rather than 'Rift Speakers'

4) Launch game via Oculus Home.

5) Launch SteamVR.

6) At this point I find my SteamVR home environment scene replaces the game, to fix this simply alt-tab back to the game to regain focus.

6/29/2016

installed crosstalk addon for teamspeak

7/2/2016

Installed JSMGE and loaded Starways Terrain DLC

7/3/2016

installed JoytoKey & ControlMK to allow joystick to allow Eject function on ONE key press (instead of holding control and pressing E three times)

Nice idea Hannibal. I am also waiting for the 1080, going with the Zotac AMP version. What did you select?

I will be using voice attack as it seems to be the best option for VR.

Another thing to add to this list are suggestions from VR users for mods and system settings that are helpful for VR users (subjective of course). Examples would be Object display size, dynamic labels, shadows, details, HUD symbology size, etc.

I went for a Gigabyte G1.

looks like voice attack is 10$ now.

i work with that later after i get my VR setup running.

right now i cant do anything because im waiting for the card to come in.

if you have settings to suggest, let me know.

I'd recommend Univers radio over both TARS and Aries right now. We find it is more stable, Teamspeak can be restarted mid-mission and the radio system still functions afterwards, and it integrates with LotATC.

Might be good to add some basic fault finding steps too.

Excellent idea though, very useful.

ill add univers radio. i just wasnt sure if it supported the current versions of DCS 1.5 and 2.0.. once i get my rift running, ill test it out.

started to setup the hardware. have to say, i wasnt impressed by the dreamdeck, and the demos. but today i was trying to setup assetto corsa, must say, im blown away by the cockpit of the BMW E30, i only can imagine what DCS will be like.

im tempted to hold out playing with DCS until the next patch is released...

I haven't received my OR yet, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with Univers. Having tried all the available radio mods, I would recommend this onem highly. It isn't as complex as Aries, but functionality, reliability, and stability, it wins hands down.

im hoping to have it setup after assetto corsa and elite. im saving the DCS setup for last, saving the best for Last, and hoping the new patch will be out when it comes time for me to setup DCS & rift, definitely give both univers and aries a try

VoiceAttack is completely worth the money, easy to set up easy to use. Just make sure you take the time to "train" your sound recognition software. It used the heck out of it before VR, use it even more now that I'm in the Rift.

UR is now payware. It is the most stable of all the radio addons in my opinion. Fairly easy to use, and yes it is working in both versions. The other nice thing about UR is that it fully integrates with LotATC.

This is a great thread. I am getting back into DCS now that I am CV1 enabled.

You could add a checklist for the version of DCS that works with VR. I am unsure if DCS 2.0 works or not.

Interesting thread, thanks. For some shameless advertisement :D : people going with VoiceAttack may want to check out VAICOM http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2534446#post2534446

Many VR users report they find it very useful since it bypasses the comms menus which are unreadable in VR HMDs.

Hollywood

i havent even gotten to jetseat, the buttkicker to even try any other addons.

starways texture dlc hasnt gotten love on my install yet.

i dont think i will be using voiceattack or viacom anytime soon.

i have two VR setups, if i have guests over, they are not going to remember voice commands.

i appreciate the suggestions! keep suggestion, will help others out. but i do have to say, seems like the majority is for voiceattack...

dont forget to make a donation for the hardwork he put in.

when we get DCS 2.5, we must have him make his monetary goal so his work can be updated in the new black sea that is to come.
