DCS 2.0 no missions

Because DCS 2.0 is basically a test bed for the Nevada terrain. Hence the Alpha designation.

All of the existing missions were written for the other map and can't just be 'imported' into a completely different map.

Are there plans to add missions in the near future or will I have to buy the F-15C Red Flag mission set as an example?

I haven't seen any discussion either way, but I would consider it a safe bet that no missions will be added for 2.0. If any are in the pipeline, they will likely be for v2.5, when everything merges.

Since there is no ETA on v2.5, I would have to say "not in the near future."

Interesting. Wait for 2.5 I guess.

I have been flying around NTTR in the F-86 and noticed that there is not any atc or ground crew at Nellis, but there is atc at Groom Lake.

From what I remember there are some quick missions for "some" modules on Nevada. But training missions are missing for example.

M2000C should be the first module to have training missions on both maps.

Do, or do not, there is no try.

Outside of "offline" missions for NTTR, there are some fun "online" missions available for active servers. Basically, simply treat the "online" experience similar to offline other then perhaps seeing aircraft piloted by real guys along with AI.

There is a lot of instant action and single missions in NTTR right now, you probably wont see much in the way of training as it makes more sense for them to be created in Georgia right now as not to force anyones hand in purchasing a map to be able to train.

I am up for flying online sometime with some guys but the problem is that I am pretty new to DCS and I would be more of a pain for those that have been flying in DCS for a long time.

That is not a problem. Many of the open servers are no different than playing offline. Basically a mission brief is provided and u simply fly out and look for targets.

Do I need to have teamspeak or does DCS 2.0, and 1.5, have a built in voice comm system that I do not know about?

Interacting with other humans is optional. :)

Should you choose to, most squadrons who run servers will also have a public area of their Teamspeak available for use while flying in their server. Generally this will be listed in the mission description, and is a great thing for coordinated cooperative flying.

You don't "need" Teamspeak, however; you can think of public MP servers like you would with any other game. You'll find that there are many people who don't ever use voice chat (and many others you wish wouldn't ;) )

Now, that being said, nothing makes this sim shine like flying with a good group in multiplayer and coordinating your efforts.

Bottom line though is that you can fly on one of the public servers and simply experience as if offline. Read mission brief, receive Intel from server and simply take out targets. No need to speak with anyone. Only downside is no ai wingman, but when ready that is what makes flying with others fun!

If u have nttr, the online missions are best option, even if you fly them like an offline experience.

Before going into multiplayer, are the "bad guys" painted in red just as they are offline?

depends on the server settings, and if they are going for realism or not
