Wow....why has ED not looked at this? performance was fine before? I was able to get solid 60fps with everything on High and view distance on ultra. Even people with an I7 and GTX 1080 hare struggling to hit 60fps...and this is not just a couple people with this problem there are countless post about it lately. And I am getting sick of this whole "your 300$ cpu is not good for dcs get this $500 cpu and it should work better..." or "put everything on low"..you/I sill get the exact same frame dip no mater what settings.

Clarify lately? Belive 1.5.3 was the patch that changed the view distance option so everything is rendered much much further away. You can go back to the old settings by using these .luas https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2685487&postcount=36

I think most flight sims are CPU dependent when it comes to performance.

Its been the last 2 patches. Thanks though I will give that a try as well, Is lowering the pre load radius and view distance option not the same thing tho? or dose i only work with the .lua file?

Some obscure parameters affecting the performance are not controlled by the options in "system" menu, but are "buried" in relevant .luas.

You can experience it even within the same version of the game - for example if You: a) hit "low" or "medium" preset then change remaining options to your liking or; b) hit "high" preset and change remaining options exactly the same way - Your performance and visuals will be somewhat different in both cases, even though "system options" screens would look the same in both (that's also the reason why posting screenshot of one's settings for comparison never actually tells the whole story).

oh...my..god, It worked after all the hundreds of thing I tried its back to "normal" THANK YOU!! I can get back to enjoying dcs again. Is this new rendering distance going to be a permant thing or do I have to use the custom .lua every time I update?

Again THANK YOU!!

Glad it improved for you! Not sure if you have to replace it each update, don't think so. I have it installed with JSGME, I can upload a JSGME formatted mod tonight.

I put it also back to "normal"... simply brings FPS on the MiG-21 Cold Start mission back to 70-80FPS from the 35-40FPS 1.5.4 mud...

I'm on 4790K, GTX970, 16GB DDR3...

For me, no matters which settings I choose. When starting a mission I'm solid 90fps and when I take-off (even 10ft) and look outside towards a city (for example UH-1h huey port visit mission), the FPS drop suddenly. The sim is then nauseating in VR.

Still looking for a solution...

Have you tried the old view .luas? On low visibility setting with those you probably wont even see the city from the harbor as it limits rendering distance to just the closest buildings, shouldn't drop your framerate remotely as much as before.

If that is the case there needs to be a sticky thread and a note about it.

Having dozens of customers run into this situation is not desirable.

I agree, I searched the forums for weeks and tried hundreds of different things to get my FPS back. I mean if I had not posted in this thread I would have never seen penshoon's post about it. I search these forums daily and I still miss tones of stuff.

Soooo disappointed :(

Got my MSI 1080 gaming X today.. and I saw no difference really in DCS compared to my old 970. 50fps on minimum settings. I have a 2600k 4.6Gz

I am running it though the rift.

I will buy it from you, if you are disapointed with it

As i said in an earlier post, I really think we should wait for DCS 2.5 especially the new and improved Caucasus Map. Since we are seeing big differences (especially in my setup) between NTTR (maxed out settings, above 60fps even in vegas) and the current caucasus map (40 fps in specific areas).

I really think it has to do with the new EDGE and terrain engine seen in 2.0, which is why I'm optimistic about 2.5 and the new maps. So i'd say hold on to your "Muscle Cards". Maybe just a little more patience:)
