Gliptal Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) I honestly want to see a video of anyone playing in the sim with TIR and the current broken angle. It's just not possible, considering you can't even see through the HUD properly. Seems like there's a massive disconnect between ED and its userbase. Forcing the TIR users to see the same thing as the VR users just for internal coding consistency sake makes no sense. IRL and with VR, one can glance at the MFCDs for example by moving their eyes, with no head movement at all. That's why TIR's view is angled down. Asking thousands of TIR viewers to look through binoculars all of a sudden is going to ruffle a lot of feathers. I don't see how anything but visual flight can be performed with that camera view. Am I supposed to point my head at my desk and look up at my monitor to keep a constant bank angle using the ADI for example? Edited July 9, 2016 by Gliptal

JSGME would require to re-apply after every update, saved games folder wouldnt... one and done, and never have to deal with it again. The Main Difference between old and new is where 0,0,0/0,0,0 From The TrackIR Software Puts you in DCS Virtual Cockpit and Axes Translation. Previously, for Example in A-10C 0,0,0/0,0,0 = 0,0,0/-27,0,0 (looking down 27 degrees at the MFDs) Now, 0,0,0/0,0,0 = 0,0,0/0,0,0 (looking forward through the HUD). Previously: Look Left = Rotate Camera Left, while still having Elevation being -27 Degrees, Now: Look Left = Look Left (w/ Rotational Ratio Set by TrackIR) (Camera Rotates using head rotation, and elevation is determined by head eye level elevation as well) So to look at left panel, you look left and down a lil, previously it was basically just look left, as the default camera already had the -27 degrees tilt. Sounds a good idea. I think I need a second monitor to display the front dash. Flying is much more dynamic feeling now. Really feels like vr movement in a sense for trac ir. I think if people take some time and shift down your eye point you will find this works very well and much better than the old ways. Please keep this new method and if anything make an option in menu for old ways. Intel 8700k @5ghz, 32gb ram, 1080ti, Rift S

Considering the fact I wear glasses as well. You wont have to if you take a few Seconds to re-calibrate or adjust the view port. Look Up 15-20 degrees, press TrackIR Re-Center Button (F12 Default), Done, now forward facing = -15-20 angle, If that's your only issue, if you dont like something else then, putting the old controller in the /saved games folder would be the easiest option for you at the moment. All it takes is a few adjustments for eye point and it's spot on perfect. Adding options for new and the bad old implementation would probably be a good idea. It's like a big witch hunt in here seriously this is a way better method try it and actually figure it out and make some adjustments to you gain levels in trac ir program I did and this is rocking! Precisely what the old TIR viewpoint allowed to do. There is no reason whatsoever to force anyone to move their head to see the front panel. 1

Goldham Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I think it is fine, I had to adjust the looking down curve a little bit for the A-10c but it is perfectly workable. And pretty much all of the aircraft also look straight ahead in the default center position. The A-10c always felt a bit weird with Trackir but once we all get adjusted to the changes it will be perfectly fine.

If you can glance without moving my head IRL, why should I move my head with TIR just to see the ADI? This I can't understand. And having to recenter the view every time is not much of a chore problem, but more of a consistency one. Before, if I wanted to recenter I just look at the middle of the screen, and done. What now? I have to angle my head 20° to 30° up every time, with no reference to how much; I might end up placing a marker on the wall or something. Also, after doing that every time I look to the back or the side the viewpoint sinks, and the HUD is not aligned anymore. I understand where they're going with these changes, but they're not going at it the right way.
