I think it has to do with the new netcode. Targets aren't where they are shown on your screen. It seems that your game and the server aren't really synced up, which is why you have to aim infront of your target to hit it (and maybe also why the missiles don't really work).

Is this the reason why I miss in multiplayer when, on a deflection shot, I have the guns pipper dead on target.... but miss every time? Looks like the gun rounds go right through the target but no hits! I can only hit in MP when I'm directly behind the target and at VERY short range.

I think it is. You have to place the pipper in front the target to get a hit, but it's possible.

F-15 pipper doesn't provide enough lead to hit medium aspect targets but you need to provide some extra lead yourself. You can see from acmi yourself that shells will fall way short if you keep the pipper on target. You can still kill targets with gun if you actually hit them though.

I just meant to say that in the previous ver 1.5.3 I had no problems holding the gun pipper smack dead on target using the parameters I usually use for gun attack and I got hits. Now in ver 1.5.4, using the same attack/aspect/range, it's definitely a no hit situation now. I'll try leading more with the gun now, but I think that the new netcode is at fault here as most missile shots don't hit either in multiplayer.

Haha if this is true, it's a ghost from the good old Freespace 2 era (the year was 1999) where you had to lead your target extra by a distance which is calculated with the equation:

Extra Lead Distance = Your Speed x Your Ping (in compatible units, for example speed in meters per second, ping in seconds) :D

You've never seen a diference between the F-15 and other planes? I fly the mirage and I sure have, as the mirage's AB comes off instantly. In the F-15, no matters how many flares you put out so long as you were in AB when the missile was launched (and in proper paremeter ie no dogfight Rmin launch) its a hit. I can tell you it's not only the pilot, but anyway...who cares anymore as SRM are now as effective as bricks.

and what's the difference in the flanker? U can't be in AB either. Heaters a completely worthless against any good pilot. In 1v1 Fanker vs Eagle is pretty much even. I would even say the eagle has an advantage in BFM...It's just the better aircraft overall ;)

Well...didn't intend to jack the topic as this has been going on for months, but given there are 5 other 1.5.4 missile threads might as well do it! lol

For all the planes from the 70's to now, in BFM its all about the pilot. What i'm saying is that when you see that you enter the WEZ and get out of burners, if you happen to fight a R-73-carrier (R-73 over aim-9 in dogfights for reason I think are obvious) and he shoots maybe 2s after you cut off AB, that missile's won't pay any attention to flares, while in other planes (especially the mirage and its pretty much instantaneous spool time) flares would have worked. Given the nature of the R-73, if the launch parameters were good, you are very much doomed as it is (was up to 1.5.3) quite the challenge to defeate, which will leave you at a disadvantage for the rest of the fight, probably slow and being slow is horrible against a flanker.

it seems that the Intended aim9p5 for the F5e somhow got copy pasted, ending up with the F15C loadouts, removing the aim9M....
