So I had this concept in my head for a bit of time and decided to make a video to introduce it. Check it out:

It'll be cool if we can get an airsoft or similar objects and have them work in DCS. I think it would be nice if there was a way for the oculus rift to detect the weapon and have it also detect when it's firing.

In theory all the pieces are currently out there....we just have to put them all together.

Brings up another good point. Would be nice to have force feedback vest that I could feel my guy taking hits, or just general vibrations.

It is great with the rift! Brings a lot of feedback!

Einherjer, take a look at what's peeking up behind his back in the chair. ;)

But agree: The Gametrix seat and SimShaker is marvelous for feedback. :)

I really love this idea....although my basement is lacking space...plus not sure my wife or my computer would love all the paint flying around.

Hey Roie how about this guy built a 360 degree FPS with paintball guns

Have it, love it, highly recommend it. But since I was outside the seat for this video, didn't do much. Although when you do fly you feel damage pretty nicely.

The 3rd space one is USB and works much like the JetSeat does from what I've read. I does however have a pretty shocking reputation on the internet as being poorly manufactured, 3rd space giving poor / if any support and buggy software...

The KOR FX Vest on the other hand works like a Butt kicker and takes a sound input into the Wireless transmitter that communicates via Bluetooth to the vest. No plugins, software or export from DCS required! This audio input can be tweaked to work from certain frequencies and by all accounts works really well from what I've seen.

On the downside, it uses batteries (albeit it makes it totally wireless for use) and looks like a sports bra!

But add on something like this too... I think I may enter the Matrix when all this kit matures!

That's pretty cool. Not the sports bra part! :)

I remember reading some bad reviews about delta six, but maybe that was early on...it was a kickstarter, wasn't it?

I just ordered 1 of these on Amazon for under $15 delivered.

2.jpg

It can be worn as either a back pack or front mounted, but since I already have two ButtKickers in my dual purpose (flight and racing) VR cockpit mounted under the seat and under the pedals (see the "Maybe a new Sub Forum Thread???" thread here http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2866602&postcount=9 ) and after reading about SimVibe's ability to direct and adjust individule LFE channels to specific locations in a sim cockpit depending on transducer placement, I decided to order one of the Aura Interactors to check it out as a possible for gutting, and using it to enhance my VR cockpit's directional tactile feedback.

This is a link to the SimVibe software site.

http://simxperience.com/en-us/products/simvibe/simvibesoftware.aspx

My intent is to exploit SimVibe's directed signals to better mimic tactile sensation to specific areas of my dual purpose VR cockpit.

I got the Aura Interactor today, and proceeded to give it a try in back pack mode ... and was impressed with what it can do @ $15!

Then I proceeded to tear it apart to see what it had inside. :)

It's a robust tactile transducer, that measures ~3.7 dc ohms, so most assuredly a 4 ohm impedance device.

I know I can get transducers for just a bit more than the Aura Interactor, but it comes with it's own interface controls, amplifier, admittedly 'dated' adapters, and power supply.

All I needed to do was wire it up to tap into the LFE channel of my sound system (I simply used a phono to RCA Y adapter).

This is two pic's of what the transducer looks like.

I ordered 3 more and will move my two ButtKicker LFEs to under the seat, placed as wide apart as possible, then add two of the Aura Interactor transducers under the pedals, also as wide apart as possible, and two inside my cockpit's seat back.

If interested in giving these a try at $15, here's the Amazon link...

If out of stock (they had 6 left after my last purchase) they are also for sale on eBay starting at under $25 delivered.

BTW: Here's a shot of the Aura Interactor's controler/Amp's insides.

It uses a TIP41B NPN, and a TIP42B PNP for amplification.

So the amp operates push pull, and that provides the punch to the transducer.

They can be seen mounted against the substantial heat sink at the left of the photo below.
