Hi,

Using TrackIR in the F-5 I'm not able to move my head close enough to the instrument panel to read the instruments... Is this normal or have I done something wrong?

I am able to move my head back and forth, but not very far...

Thanks to Belsimtek's dedication to realism, they have simulated your chairs harness lol

As stated the zoom function works, I have it mapped to my j/s. One thing that I have noticed with my Track IR 5 and ProClip is that I have a weird field of view bug. I can not get the forks on the proclip adjust to where I can look both down while facing front, and also look to the left with my head down enough to see my chaff, flare, radar asjustments. I can set it to look down and left, but lose my ability to look down to the TACAN panel while facing fwd. If I readjuse I can look down, but then when looking left I can't look down any further than the canopy rail. This is the only plane this happens to me n, so it shouldn't be a Track IR clip/receiver issue.

I have the same problem with the LED based Pro Clip and for that reason I went back to the visor clip. I have no problems using the visor clip.

I'm sure that if you use the TIR GUI, you could adjust the range when the LED clip is used. I just never tried it.

Im also experiencing this using opentrack...is it suposed to be that way or can be changed somewhere??...I think this could lead into disadvantages in combat with other planes users, even if its realistic it should be implemented for all or no one.

I find that having the TrackIR camera and the Pro-Clip at the same height is best.

I have the camera clipped to my monitor on the left side so again it is in line with the Clip.

I have the LEDs going high rather than next to my ear and the LEDs inclined so that the lower longer arm is angled in towards my head.

With these positions I can move my head in all angles (physically possible) and still track in-game.

Setting the response graphs in the TrackIR software is also critical.

Set your Head rotation so that when you look at the edge of your monitor, you are looking back over your shoulder in game.

I can appreciate this dedication as well however I strongly disagree with limitations on head movement. The F-5 has a exceptional field of view which cannot be taken advantage of for situational awareness. This puts the F-5 even at more of a disadvantage in combat.

There are many times that when I get jumped by a Mig 29, SU-27, or Mig 21 who do not have the same restrictions. I find it difficult to place Track IR restrictions on some aircraft and not others. This is over simulation in my opinion. It is hard enough to fly in a simulated combat environment without a simulated seat belt digging into my neck while trying to check my six.

Please allow us simmers ability to have playability without restricting our Track IR. I have modified my views.lua file with in the F-5 to take advantage of the view... however I am limited to servers that allow for this. I wish Belsimtek would reconsider this limitation.

Actually you can edit the view settings in the config files to alter the view limitations, so you can lean closer in any direction you want . I've done this with several other modules as I've found them too restrictive to my liking.

Could you give us some indications on how to do such changes please??

If you do this however you will not pass validation for servers that look for this in Multiplayer. Your shield will be RED not GREEN therefore you will not be permitted to play . There are servers that do not validate this and you can play on those servers just fine. :pilotfly:

My hope is that they remove the restictions on the seat belt. There are several areas of not simulated. Start crew animation, repair, refuel rearm. I don't know why the head movement restriction is such a factor.
