Frusheen Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) DCS 1.5.4.56500 patch 5 Just tested a full down collective descent from a high altitude hover and I can arrest the descent at 60-70% without any sign of entering VRS or increased engine demand. Edited September 9, 2016 by Frusheen Added version number. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
Frusheen Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 I managed to enter VRS. It requires close to zero forward or lateral momentum and is so easy to recover from its almost a non event. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
Devrim Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 How do you understand you entered the VRS, if it's so easy to recover from it? I gain altitude and go above 5000 feet. No air speed. Then release collective all way down. While Gazelle falls as fast as possible, I pull collective and vertical-speed gauge raise to zero (and above) like crazy. Holbeach Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Here's one I did earlier. about hands free flight, but I think it illustrates the lack of VRS effect quite well, even though it was implemented some time ago. myHelljumper Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) So, the gazelle does not have VRS ? Here latest update no wind clean gazelle M https://youtu.be/DPBxrqX-NZI Still, no vortex at all... Fredo_69 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 So, the gazelle does not have VRS ? Here latest update no wind clean gazelle M https://youtu.be/DPBxrqX-NZI Still, no vortex at all... Thanks! According to Polychop it's been fixed "long ago"...
myHelljumper Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 This is ironic. Watch the video, you can clearly see a lot of VRS... https://youtu.be/DPBxrqX-NZI Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Frusheen Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 It is possible to get into VRS. It requires zero forward or lateral movement in the descent and I've only managed it in testing and then when close to the ground. I just spent an hour test flying the gazelle in 1.5 and in that time managed to get into VRS only once! The slightest forward or lateral movement and the Heli recovers on its own. The implementation is very unrealistic. I identified it by seeing judder in the airframe and an increase in descent rate. Just touching the cyclic results in a recovery. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
Fredo_69 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 This is ironic. Watch the video, you can clearly see a lot of VRS... https://youtu.be/DPBxrqX-NZI Yes, you might be right. It's very subtile and recovers from it without much (any?) effort from you?
myHelljumper Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 The implementation is very unrealistic. Source ? Polychop as sources for this, REAL ARMY SA-342M PILOTS. Fredo_69 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 And now that again"REAL ARMY SA-342M PILOTS".... Can't you get it, this FM is far from ready! IF we could just agree on that?! Things would be so much easier...

Frusheen Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 Source ? Polychop as sources for this, REAL ARMY SA-342M PILOTS. Do you have better than that to back up you "facts" ? Your video proves it well enough for me. You recovered from VRS with just collective. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
Fredo_69 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Ever heard of "torque induced jaw" - for example??? IF you just want to fly around casually blowing up stuff, that's fine with me - I'm happy for You then. But I'm into flight SIMULATION and this module isn't ready to that standard - yet!
myHelljumper Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Maybe BUT there is VRS ;) Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Frusheen Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) Maybe BUT there is VRS ;) You are correct there is VRS but it's so subtle and easy to recover from that it seems unrealistic. EDIT: Removed off topic content relating to other oddities of the flight model so as not to derail the thread.
