Hi I am new to the forum. I have DCS loaded to a different SSD than default location. SSA will not work as I believe it cant find it. I need help in locating the registry in order to point SSA to to the correct location. Sorry for such a basic request.

Hi,
It used to be HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\, but I'm not sure DCS still uses this location. At least I can't see it at my PC over there anymore.
SSA will rather look for Saved Games\DCS\Scripts stuff than installed core sim files.

Hi Andre, thanks for your reply. I found the path where you suggested. But I cannot find in the SSA software where I can enter the path to allow SSA to find my DCS install. Have checked Saved games >DCS>Scripts and SimShaker export core and simshaker.lua are present. Am I missing something or failing to complete a necessary step.

I don't think SSA actually needs to find your DCS install.

I've posted in the Discord a couple of times over the last month with no replies.  I'm just wondering whether the lack of feedback from the F-4E flap deployment is something that is fixable or a known issue?  The slats give great feedback, but there's nothing when the flaps go down.

Hi Biggus,
Thank you for the feedback and insistence.
Guys, anyone else has this issue with F-4E flap deployment?

I apologize in advance for asking maybe a stupid question on how effects differ from one plane to another. (I don t owe enough modules yet).

Are all effects in SSA exactly the same regardless of the plane selected, with just the possibility to change the intensity of the effect as through the Jetseat Strenght parameter? Or effects are actually tailor made per plane, using different frequencies/motors?

For instance, is the Cannon/Gun effect in SSA triggering the same response from the actuators if you are flying a A10 or an F16, just changing the overall strength? Or is the response following a different pattern depending on which planes you fly?

Thanks in advance,

Y.

It's a good question. And it's a complicated matter.
First of all the effects are tailored to a certain aircraft trying to get the best from the telemetry data available. Telemetry is not enough in most cases though.
Some effects as G-feeling, ground bumps, ground roll for example are identical for all the aircrafts as they're based on universal physical parameters as G load, speed, etc.
Some effects are unique for a certain aircraft as MiG-21 SPS (wing surface blow-off system) as an example.

Talking about the gun fire effects, well, historically-wise it's a combination of 2 different approaches - unique sample(s) for an aircraft and combined use of a sample by many aircrafts. I think there is no fully developed and proven system here yet and we are ready to listen to user requests for improvement.

Many thanks for your answer, much appreciated as always, Andre.

Could you clarify a little bit more what you mean for cannon gun by: combination of 2 different approaches - unique sample(s) for an aircraft and combined use of a sample by many aircrafts

I was the other day watching a documentary on the F16, and pilots were saying that the cannon effect in the cockpit and the type of vibration it triggered was quite unique, and taking people totally offguard, to the point where pilots had to be specifically trained to not be surprised by the response of the plane and its unique vibration, this is mostly due to the fact that it is a relativelly in size a big cannon mounted on a very small aircraft, and quite assymetrically.

This made me think if SSA would be able to simulate that the source of vibration for the f16 although affecting all the cockpit is coming from one side for more realism.

Would you have the list of all the effects which are the same for all airplanes?

Thanks again,

Y.

I mean that the aircrafts supported in SSA predecessor software (FC-3 planes, MiG-15, UH-1, A-10C, P-51, Bf-109 to name a few) featured dedicated samples for every gun. Later, with a big variety of newly created DCS modules coming, it was hard for us as developers to adhere to this approach. So, many ACs support for which was added later re-use the existing samples.

I think it would be great. Thank you for the consideration.

Hello, just purchased the Apache this past week. Noticed three effects won't trigger at all. Gun/Cannon fire, Stall/VR, and Failure/Damage. Have a good day.

Is there a way to increase the intensity of the vibrations through a NLR HL8 haptic seat cushion

I am using the HL8 connected through USB and running SSA in conjunction with Andres sound module and seat bass shakers.

I have the intensity maxed but it is still weak. Using the HL8 software the intensity is much better. If I increase the bass shaker intensity the HL8 is hard to appreciate.

I tried connecting via the 3.5 mm jack but I get constant vibration with or without DCS running.

When using the A-10CII module, I noticed the gear doors effect got a bigger "clonk", somehow unexpected.
Did the files change? is it an error?
Speedbrakes effect also feels different to months ago. Very noticeable even at low SSA values (20 or less).

It's a mystery to me but I can't get Simshaker to work with the OH-6....I have added the following lines of code to the Simshaker.lua file located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SimShaker\SimShaker for Aviators Beta\Data:

Replaced:

elseif obj.Name == "UH-1H" then

With:

elseif obj.Name == "OH-6A" then

dataTable.name = "Mi-8MT"

dataTable.rpm = string.format("%.2f", get_param_handle("RRPM"):get() * 2 / 3)

elseif obj.Name == "UH-1H" then

But nothing. I had the same problem when the OH-58 was released. I am using a Gametrix Jetseat with the USB connection instead of the audio jack. Perhaps that is the problem. Does anybody have an idea?

I want to understand how SSA works (the base package). I have an NLR HF8 gaming seat pad connected via USB. Finally got it working. There are generic settings for jets, pistons and helos. Some of the flight modues are "supported", i.e., if you run them, SSA will create a specific profile for that aircraft you can tweak independant of the generic settings. For example, I have the A-10 and it created a unique profile. I also have the UH-1D, and it did NOT create a specific profile.

Questions:

1. For each unique profile, independant gamers tweak their own. Is there a repository of these somewhere that can be imported? A good starting point is just that.

2. Is there a list of modules that create a unique profile? I see UH-1 mentioned from time to time but it didn't create that profile on my setup.

3. Can you run the pad AND bass shakers at the same time? I'd like to buy two, one for each side. My machine uses USB for speakers but there is a built in headphone jack (I believe that means it is an independant sound card) that I THINK can be used with Andre's low cost software. I think that would be pretty cool although I suspect tweaking it my take a lot of time...

Thanks.

1. You may check out our discord community

2. Currently, every official DCS module is supported. You may need to hit the refresh button

3. Yes, you can use seat and sound in parallel

Zdravey Andre, sorry for off topic but when will Simshaker be updated for Condor 3?

Thanks!

Zdravey Jurinko,

Good question. Haven't seen it coming thus far. I will check how are things with the telemetry in it and PM you.

DCS Export telemetry is about the plane and not the pilot. And there is no any sign of the ejection itself in it.
Hence, it seems we can do nothing with this side effect. Sorry.

I recently started playing around with VPForce TelemFFB software from Walis.

This software (which btw is also very nicely built, recommend anyone who want to have a look at it, or the VPForce manual) also feeds on DCS telemetry, and as per my test it systematically switches to pause ffb upon ejection, and hence stop all joystick rumble post ejection, allowing players to enjoy the scene and check what is going around without any annoying chaotic vibrations.

I don t know exactly how it works under the hood, but i understand it is hence possible to get from telemetry that there has been an ejection and stop through software ffb response.

I don t know if I will be able to get more information from debugging log, but it would be fantastic if it could be replicated for Simshaker.

Many thanks in advance for looking at it, if you can.

Checking debug log it does not clarify what is the actual trigger in telemetry, but it is immediate.

As soon as I eject, this is what appears in the log:

2024-11-08 21:29:33.005 - joystick - INFO - Telemetry Timeout, stopping effects

2024-11-08 21:29:33.010 - joystick - DEBUG - The function on_timeout is stopping effect 9

I'm flying the F-16 using SS beta 2.8.5.0.
Whenever the plane is hit and severely damaged (falling uncontrollably), the rumbling and shaking effect doesn't stop when I quit the mission, even if I exit DCS altogether.
Any idea? Is there any shortcut to stop all effects?

Hello,

Today I had an interesting case, I emergency landed the plane succesfully, the plane was fully at stop and I was safe, no vibration whatsoever.

I decided for fun to eject, and the seat started vibrating like crazy.

I retried with the plane now at full stop on the run way, cut the engines, no vibration at all, and then I ejected, and got the full chair hard massage again.

It works the same with most of the planes I tried in DCS: F14/A10/F16. Is it only me, or you can reproduce it as well?

Looking at the log:

And pages and pages like this.

I disabled canopy/Door Open/Close, and immediately stopped.

I will have to keep this effect disabled if it gives so much issues with ejection (as I am ejecting a lot  🙂)

Would you be able to look at it, to see if it can be reproduced on your side?

Many thanks in advance,

y.
