I like cats quite a lot, too! I had a big, over 20lbs, Maine Coon about 20 years ago and he was great. He was big enough to actually give me a black eye once, and he had absolutely no fear of dogs, with the exception of the two dachshunds that lived next door (they would try and surround him and he would head for the woods). :)

When I moved a couple of months ago, I had to leave my favorite cat behind. She used to visit me all the time, slept on my lap, or enjoyed the relative safety from tomcat on my sofa (he was much less likely to attack her in my room), and she also liked to pay me a visit when I went to bed, seeing as I was finally not distracted by computers or flight sims or TVs any longer. ;)

I was almost as heartbroken as if I had separated from a long time girlfriend. I'm just really glad to know that she stays with some great people (and is friends with a great dog as well, who's also willing and eager to defend her from tomcat). ;)

I appreciate everyone's comments and stories.

 

As you might have guessed, I love animals in general. They make for great photo subjects as well as companions.

 

I have probably shot a couple of thousand frames at my local zoo, and some of them are even good enough to show other people. ;)

I'm more of a cat man myself well not entirely true since it's actually Siamese cats I really like and they are like monkeys. Smart, loud and loyal. Congrats with you new dog man.

 

Thought I might like cats as much as dogs at one point. Then, at about 11 or 12, was at a friends house and they has two Siamese cats, BoBo and Goober. Both were laying next to the hearth and I went over to pet them:thumbup:. As I approached, they both rolled over on their backs which I interpreted as they wanted their stomachs rubbed:doh:. BAD mistake. When I reached down within claw range, i pulled back a pretty shredded forearm:cry:. Have not trusted many other cats to this day, even though I did take in a stray once:). I think I'm inclined to dogs.:smilewink:

The same applies to snakes (except that they don't want to play). Most of the damage from a, non-venomous, snake bite comes from pulling away. They generally bite and then let go leaving just small punctures.
