KoN Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Hi all i am so used to flying with fixed gun sights is there one in place for WWII aircraft in DCS . I know its fixed in the P-51 but what about in the 190 and 109 and the new modules that are coming up . I really prefer fixed sight like we have in other sims. BOS , CLOD. Ala13_ManOWar Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 All of them are either fixed (109, Spit to come) or can be fixed (P-51, 190) mate, what's the problem? S! Art-J Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Co, could You elaborate what You mean by "fixed"? i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
shagrat Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Basically the gun sights are modeled accurate after their real life counterparts. So all gun sights at least have a fallback to fix the aiming cross (P-51D), or are a fixed reflector sights (Bf 109, Fw-190, upcoming Spitfire LF Mk. IX and P-40F). What you might see is the 6-DoF head movement in conjunction with a head tracker/VR Glasses. But you simply put the dot at the right point in front of the enemy plane and that's it. Though you have to hit them a bit more often as bullet trajectory and collisions/hits is calculated for each individual bullet so if you narrowly miss, you still miss... ;) Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
DefaultFace Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 You can fix it in place by turning off the gyro. Switch is on the right near the target distance indicator. 9./JG27 "If you can't hit anything, it's because you suck. If you get shot down, it's because you suck. Ala13_ManOWar Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 The D-9's sight isn't fixed.Indeed it started fixed until you uncage it last time I tried, don't know if procedure has changed, may be. IIRC, early manual stated it is better that way so gyro don't suffer while grounded which may lead to damage and malfunction. S! DefaultFace Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Definitely fixed in the cold start procedure. Used it tonight. 9./JG27 "If you can't hit anything, it's because you suck. KoN Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 I think my Trackir is too sensitive around the centre as my gun sights move around a lot . DefaultFace Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Hi con, All the gunsights in the WW2 aircraft in DCS are so called 'Reflector Sights'. These gunsights, much like a modern Heads Up Display project an image to infinity essentially eliminating parallax error. ie you can move your head around and still see the crosshair in the 'correct' spot aligned with the guns. Here is an example of what I'm talking about: As for trackir there are a few good tutorials around if you can't figure out where to start. 9./JG27 "If you can't hit anything, it's because you suck.
