Tarexmd Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Mind is seriously blown with Google Earth VR which just came out on the Vive. The exact moment was when I realized I can zoom in from Space down to a fully-rendered-in-3D NYC. Now, if I can fly around in a plane, while experiencing these ultra-realistic and highly detailed views from the cockpit, I'll die a happy man. Here's a link for those who don't know what I'm talking about:
Neldrion Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Just write google an E-Mail to get the license to use their stuff. I think they will make it a gift for DCS ;) And then it's just some simple coding to implement. One DCS employee for a half day I would say ;) Just kidding. VR is great, I want to try Google Earth VR too :) Quote Vedexent: The technical term for an over ambitious ground attack pilot is "dead". Quote SiThSpAwN: I figure 1.5 will have to buy some roses and chocolates, take 2.0 to a nice restaurant, and if it opens doors and is a gentleman, 1.5 and 2.0 might just get to merge one day.
tintifaxl Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 That would be fantastic! I'm looking forward to X-Plane 11's approach to realistic looking cities. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.

The M Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 You would have to make every house an objekt to be able to destroy or alter it. This would involve some work
shagrat Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 You would have to make every house an objekt to be able to destroy or alter it. This would involve some work Just for line of sight calculations, this would be an interesting work. Object vs. mesh, but holding a mesh in storage for LOS Calculations? And in addition, I guess Google Earth VR may require some CPU resources for the pre rendering, that DCS typically uses for PFM/EFM and ASM (avionics, hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems), AI path finding etc. Nice idea for fancy sightseeing, but if I just think about how long the development and implementation of EDGE took ED and how the community reacts to delays...
