Black_Hawk Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I noticed that after finishing my refueling (so, when my refueling probe goes in again) my plane pitches up a bit. I do not change joystick input after the refuel, so, is this here just to make refueling easier for us or is this the case IRL, the stick movements are, how should I say, more precise, say, you pull all the way to yourself but the control surfaces go only 50% of their maximum deflection? 159th GAR LockOnFiles CAW Team
Ardillita Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 In refuelling mode, the movemnts of the jostick are more precise. You can pull a lot more than in other modes and the movments will be smailler
pho3nix Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I know that this can make up for the lack of 'feel' in desktop simulators but does this happen IRL? i dont think so but if any one knows better...?
Kenan Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 It pitches up? It may be the trim. If you were using alt hold or simmilar mode, after disengaging those mods, trim is NOT reset and this may be the reason your plane goes little up. EricJ Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I'll go with Kenan on that one, after disengaging Altitude Hold, I hit CTRL + T to reset the trim. Never had that problem, ever.. Black_Hawk Posted October 23, 2006 Author Posted October 23, 2006 No, I don't use ALT HOLD or SPD HOLD, or trim... Try refueling without that and do not change your stick movement after taking in your probe, you'll see what I'm talking about. 159th GAR LockOnFiles CAW Team
Disso Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 You must be flying V1.02 then. In V1.02, once you plug in, Altitude and Speed hold automatically engage, so you'll stay plugged into the boom. Once you disconnect, Speed hold is turned off, but altitude hold stays on, so if you push or pull on the stick, the plane responds in the opposite direction as it fights to stay at level. Turn it off by H, and hit Cntrl-T to reset all trim. SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.

If you've got any control input when you pull the probe in and switch to the different control curve, then it will be magnified - here that's a pitch yup. I've never seen any settings for it, but it's there. Refuelling at the moment could do with tweaking - you might also have noticed that once you extend the probe you get a more precise speed readout on the HUD, too. If you want to test it, go do a handling test on the Su33 in free flight, with and without the probe out - you should see the difference. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
