Hahaha that ****ing menu music! Aaa this is great :D

Love the way he immerses himself in the manual and does stuff by the books, instead of winging it and just playing according to established practises. Nice to have a systems-oriented take on aircraft.

I JUST managed to get a point where he hovered his mouse over the missile tab on one of the fuselage hardpoints...Its almost like he didn't want us to see the goodies of the missile tab.

One thing tho...Shouldn't the BK-90s be in the bomb category?

*EDIT* Got it!

Your image isn't shared with the public.

If you go to imgur.com, you can just drag-drop the picture on the frontpage and it'll upload for you. No stress with ads or such shit. :)

They probably decided to put all guided weapons under the Missile tab.

But yea its not a proper missile as its not powered but maby they did it this way for simplicity sake.

If you look at Hornet's loadouts, you will find JSOW is also under missiles. At least it was so some versions ago when I last looked at it.

So it seems glide bombs are considered "missiles". Actually, even if we look beyond DCS and into real life, JSOWs are designated as AGM rather than GBU. Same with old Walleyes, being designated as AGM-62 despite being basically tv guided free falling bombs.

Doesn't these glide bombs require a "lock" before release by programming? So you can't just drop it via CCRP/CCIP methods. So the "lock" is done pre-programmed on the ground, just like the missiles would be done with radar (programmed to look specific direction, distance etc) and then launched when the parameters match.

And as you can really release it from any direction really, I can get it goes to the "missile" category as it as well has wings so it can glide and maneuver even upwards if it needs (and has energy).

Yeah but, with this definition GBU-8/GBU-15, JDAMs, SDBs, and even LGBs can fit the same bill. Well admittedly like you mention you can release some of them with a higher angle off the target, and they have wings to glide. But still, SDB fit these definitions as well and yet is considered a GBU rather than AGM. To me, it seems like there is a slight ambiguity in classification of these things. I'd like to read/hear what's the reason some are put into GBU and others into AGM class if such a source is available.

idk maybe its more of a dcs classification. while in the real world a missile is defined both by its motor and guidance, in dcs coding terms the presence of a motor is somewhat less significant than guidance and controlled flight.
