Hey guys,

long story short..... I used to run an I7 4790k and 16 DDR3 rams with a GTX980ti... i had horrible performance in VR. Tested everything there is and was able to fix it enough so i could run 45fps constantly in both 1.5 and 2.0.

Updated to 1.5.6 and now im only getting 22 fps. Unplayable.

Today I updated to an I7 7700 and 16 DDR4 ram and I get exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, the same performance. 22 fps in 1.5.6.

What should I do?

Do yall think a complete re download and reinstall will help?

thanks

I had the same Problem when i bought the Oculus this week.

I upgraded yesterday from my 970 to a 1080 and now it´s running very good.......no it´s amazing ;)

I also have 32GB Ram

Hope this is helpful for you

I suppose it's the amount of VRAM (GTX 970 = 4 GB, GTX 1080 = 8 GB) that makes 104th_Shooter's system faster. Don't think changing from an i7 4790 to an i7 7700 makes the big difference. I'm still using an i7 3770 and the cpu never was my bottleneck.

I run A FX 8320 8 core,16 gig ddr4 ram with a XFX rx480 8 gig 250 ssd and a vive.

My VR in 1.5.6 is about 25 to 30 sometimes dipping as low as 10 over cities or more than 5 A/C! It runs ok but is jerky as you look around. I've tried different settings and even OC my GPU..same thing. 2.0.5 is much better 45 to 55 FPS and smooth.

I don't think a reload will help. I think its the way the older game engine treats VR. If you do reinstall and it works let us know!

After lots of cussing, loading the latest AMD drivers and tweaking my system(turning down everything) and I'm able to get 25 to 30 FPS in 1.5.6 with the FC3 A/C. About 20 on the clickpits in VR..so its better. It looks to me like the guys saying it runs good all have 32 gig ram, double what I have. I guess I need to upgrade that. But its flyable..no eye candy.. but it works.

It's definitely a Dcs software issue. Wiping everything clean and put a fresh win7 on it to see if it shows an improvement.

What I heard also is that cloud density may cause low framrates. Havent checked that one out yet. I'll be at work until late but will give it a try later on.

Btw, I also upgraded to a gtx 1080 today and have absolutely no performance change. Exactly the same as before..... it has to be some software conflict or so

From a i7 4790K (4.4Ghz) to a i7 7700 (4.2Ghz), it's like a downgrade...

Try another video drivers, low down some game settings...

????

you are wrong ( again )

4790k = 4.0/4.4

7700k = 4.2/4.5

it's not a downgrade, it's more or less the same chip, just a smaller die :)

With your new hardware, you can run DCs 2.0 at 90fps - I do, although it's taken me months to get it all right. 1.5 will not run anywhere near this fast, so stick with 2.0.

To get 90hz smooth on 2.0 you need to:

Reinstall Windows ( must eliminate any potential problems)

Keep all in game settings on MAX, but turn Shadows to 'Flat' - visibility to 'Medium' - depth of field 'Off' - MSAA to '2x' - VR pixel density to 1.2 (may have to leave it at 1.0 if using the 980ti - get the 1080ti when it's out)

MAKE SURE V SYNC IS 'OFF'!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure XMP profile for the RAM is activated in BIOS. You'll should easily save 1ms frame time from this, which is more than what it sounds, in VR....

(If you're okay for money, Try and get hold of the fastest RAM possible at 16GB, no less. Don't let anyone try to tell you RAM doesn't make a difference. Gave me nearly an extra millisecond again, by getting faster G skill DDR4 over the Corsair stuff I had before.)

Shouldn't need to overclock your CPU to get the same results as me, since your Kaby Lake auto clocks to the same speed as my Skylake is overclocked to currently.

Lastly, I recently posted a method where you use two PCs, using one as a server to host your DCS mission, while the PC you're actually playing on connects as a client - this forces the AI and objects positions to be rendered by the 'server' freeing up additional headroom for your main PC,

I'll go grab the link.

Skylake series CPU's will get more speed from fast DDR4 ram , i have 3000mhz DDR4 and its much better than if i run it 2133Mhz.

Tip for increased performance - Use second PC as server!!!

+1 for the outsourced server :D

..and yes, RAM Speed does matter, it's one of the things often misjudged when it comes to latency in specific scenarios.

3600 :) ( The downside is a UP with the VCC-SA Voltage, Asus pushes mine to 1.35V ...put it back to 1.25 and still OK, tho not a single Watt less in the graph through this ?! )
