Cthulhus Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Hello, Just got the FC3 and I really need some help from guru with all FC3 planes. I need help for example with the Russian weapons, different sensors modes etc. I can speak English and French. So if one of you want to help a little beginner, could you contact me ? I don't want to flood the forum with probably stupid questions. Thanks ! /A new comer on DCS World Specs: Win10 64bits Pro, Intel i9-9900K | 32Go | RTX 2080 Ti | M.2 SSD 850go x2 Hardware: HTC Vive Pro + X56 Maps : Normandy + Assets | Gulf | Nevada DCS Modules: FC3 | UH-1H | Mi-8MTV2 | A-10C | F/A-18C | Ka-50 | SuperCarrier | F-14A/B | F-5E | F-86F Sabre | MiG-15bis | Mig-19 | MiG-21bis | AV-8B | Fw 190 D-9 | SA342 | P-51D | Bf 109 K-4 | Spitfire LF Mk. David OC Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Hi Cthulhus, Start with the manuls found in your DCS install. dcsworld/mods/(module name)/docs folder I recommend sticking with one aircraft first, either ground attack (dcs su25t) or fighter aircraft (Su-27) if your interested in Russian equipment etc. The controls are all similar to each other. cichlidfan Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 David has given you a great start with those links but as far as 'stupid' questions, don't worry about it. We have all asked those kinds of questions at one point or another and most of us won't make fun of you for the questions you ask. :) 1 ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! David OC Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Like cichlidfan said, feel free to fire off some silly questions, we all took awhile before we got it somewhat, always learning with anything to do with aviation.:) You also need to workout a good controller profile that suits "you", what controller do you have Cthulhus? Here is an image attached that I found to give you some idea of the controls you will mostly need quick access to. Thanks for all and for the manual ! I'll read it ! I have a X56 and I'm new on DCS but not on simulation. Cthulhus Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 So first question : On my Mig29S, on the HUD on Navigation mode (1) I have different mods (no explained on the manual). I have : B3B I have something like : MOC (but it's not a M) And nothing (and for others modes (2,3,4...) where can I find the translation of the HUD? To perform a simple flight with waypoints, witch mode I have to set ? It's possible to set the HUD in English? (I already changed the cockpit language with a mod) but that don't change the HUD. Thanks The "nothing" Nav mode is general pilotage. Use it for free flight in good weather, when not following waypoints. МРШ is the "Enroute" mode. This is the mode to be in, when following waypoints during your flight. B3B is the "Return" mode. This single waypoint brings you back to the airport designated for landing. ПОС is the mode you enter to actually land following the glideslope. If you haven't discovered this already, once in МРШ, the system transitions to B3B (Return) automatically after the last mission waypoint and, then, to ПОС for the short flight down to the ground. I believe you'll find the HUD in English by selecting "English" as the Avionics language in the Gameplay settings menu ("native" is the default). I use the Russian HUD for the Russian aircraft myself but I believe that's where you change it. 1 YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU1...CR6IZ7crfdZxDg _____ Win 11 Pro x64, Asrock Z790 Steel Legend MoBo, Intel i7-13700K, MSI RKT 4070 Super 12GB, Corsair Dominator DDR5 RAM 32GB.
Cthulhus Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 Yes thanks ! And where is the current heading waypoints ? I can change (next/prev) but I don't have the "ID" on the HUD like the F15/M2000C If I need to go on WP6, how can I do that ? Btw, I now use the Mig29G (The HUD is in english :)) Thanks :) Specs: Win10 64bits Pro, Intel i9-9900K | 32Go | RTX 2080 Ti | M.2 SSD 850go x2 Hardware: HTC Vive Pro + X56 Maps : Normandy + Assets | Gulf | Nevada DCS Modules: FC3 | UH-1H | Mi-8MTV2 | A-10C | F/A-18C | Ka-50 | SuperCarrier | F-14A/B | F-5E | F-86F Sabre | MiG-15bis | Mig-19 | MiG-21bis | AV-8B | Fw 190 D-9 | SA342 | P-51D | Bf 109 K-4 | Spitfire LF Mk. Guitrz Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Hello Cthulhus, and welcome. :) You might wanna try doing the Su-25T training missions, they are great for learning the basic aspects of the russian systems. I remember it has (had?) great NAV lessons, and they apply to the other russian aircraft aswell, since the nav modes are pretty similar. proletariat23 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 good luck up there. It can be daunting. The fighter aircraft are far more forgiving. just remember your gauges are your friend, trust your instruments, don't fight the controls. I've been reading, and lurking some of the gurus, I am not anywhere close to one. Familiarize yourself with the aircraft, watch it move, so when you ask it questions you ask it the right ones. The Boelcke Dicta is a good starting point for combat, I'm an amateur, I commonly get killed by pittbulled missiles I did not smell coming, So don't listen to me in this regard, but combat is intricate, every engagement is unique. The best advice I've read comes from richthofen, then Rudel, and Boyd and Geddy-" don't ever react, those who react die- instead, act! make them think." when you're thinking, those muscles that get the nose on, are distracted. Learn basic dogfight maneuvers like the climbing spiral, the rolling scissor, and concepts like stall fighting and energy. Weapons and all that noise is great, but the real win comes on the stick, so get confident, get adjusted and learn to demand the aircraft. The thing I remember is trying to fight it, it's like a big dog is pulling you on a walk, sometimes the dog lays on his belly and kills you. So get it together, in the words of Morty.
VZ_342 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) The SU25T is my first plane, I'd recommend it 100%. I have the English mod for the cockpit and the Russian "bitchin' Betty." It took me a few flights ("instant action/free flight") to be able to avoid ground collisions. YouTube has a number of really good flight basics videos (real flight school stuff, Cessna 150's etc...I learned how to get out of a spiral stall, and then how to NOT get in one in the firat place. Then do the later tutorials (1 and 2 are start-up, taxi, and then take off) Just remember, there are no stupid questions. Edited March 1, 2017 by VZ_342
kylekatarn720 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 watch this playlist, this one is about su 25t but like everybody else said, russian jets are pretty much the same with minor differences on systems.
