I am slightly worried about the rev b of the gunfighter, will that mean the rev a gunfighters will not be compatible with the grip or need some kind of adapter ?

Or will there be conversion kits ?

Also when MCG will be available in europe would be nice to know now that 1st october is preorder date for north america.

I basically bought the gunfighter because of the flexible eco system with the fast stick mount.

Having that now potentially introducing incompatibility less then half a year after buy is kinda a bummer/concerning to me.

would be nice to get some more info on this.

So how does one tell what revision of Gunfighter he has? I never knew there were different revisions out there...

Same question. I ordered the gunfighter on the 1st round. I never knew of a Rev B. Any word on how to tell or what changed between Revisions?

Rev.B is new - doesn't exist yet. Will be available when the new batch gets released. The difference is the 3-pin connector - Rev.B moves the 3 pins into the grip.

All Gunfighters sold up until now are considered "first gen" when referencing them (their 3 pin connector has the pins on top of the base).

So everybody has the Gunfighter (first gen) now - as there aren't any Rev.Bs out there yet.

This is all described on the new Gunfighter product pages at VKBcontrollers.com as well.

Just curious, what was the reasoning for this change?

Protect the pins against "triggerhappy" vir'pilots.. the ones that bend CAM axis, broken gimbal bolts... :)

will be a upgrade for the gf A?

if the upgrade came with the mcg from the start there is less logistics problems.....you know ....standardization.

We had users that managed to break the pins on top of the Gunfighter base somehow when putting the grip on; VKB HQ decided to move the pins into the grip so this won't happen anymore, as the grip itself will be already aligned correctly on the gimbal when pushing it into place.

I will not worry.

Remember the gimbal upgrades for the old mambas......

VKB denying even the possibility of a twist adaptor.......and now working on it.

It will be nice if the mcg came with an upgrade kit to keep standardization but vkb always provide spare parts for the older generations.

they really taking into account our requests, specially since we know where they live jajajajjajja

the GF mkII worry me......the entire vkb line worry me, there are so nice I will end up having a collection

ahhhhhh the WT arcade gamers..........yes I heard about them.

I think that the usage testing must be replaced by a 2 week in a 3 to 5 year nursing home :P

I think the problem are the people who are jumping in-flight from a fighter to helicopter and try to perform a 10 second swap-the-grip requirement to be a efficient pilot...

... potentially introducing incompatibility less then half a year after buy is kinda a bummer

will be a upgrade for the gf A?

First, there is NO "NEW MODEL" - A and B versions are identical, technically and functionally, with a single difference: the contact group has been switched, what was on the top went to the bottom, and vice versa. We did it mainly to streamline the assembling process.

Hence "upgrade" is a wrong word; these two versions are on the same horizontal level.

Talking support, both versions will be supported for the same period of time.

Talking compatibility issues, it is simple: if you have A version GF, you go ahead with A versions of whatever other devices; if you have B - go with B. A and B versions of whatever new goods we are going to produce will be made in proportional numbers.

Just curious, what was the reasoning for this change?

We had users that managed to break the pins on top of the Gunfighter base somehow when putting the grip on

To be precise, the number of the users who managed to bend/break the pins was slightly lower than 0.8% of the total, which speaks good of them :)

We would perhaps not rush to make a new version merely out of fear that more people would apply brutal force to make the coupling click while it was not aligned to click, but here came this little technological improvement, and the two reasons combined made us go ahead.

So, presuming you're wondering which MCG you should get:

IF you already have a GF, your choice should be MCG A;

IF you are going to get a GF, you should stay with MCG B.

IF you are going to buy an MCG set, then you don't have to bother about this A or B thing altogether.

Once again, the only difference between A and B is the juxtaposition of the parts of the contact group.

Can i buy a MCG-PRO + TM Warthog adapter and if i buy a VKB base later remove the TM Adapter and have 3 contactless ministicks instead 3 4-way hats like the VKB-Sim MCG-TM? I want a good replacement for the crappy ministick on the TM Warthog throttle.

TM Warthog adapter is not for MCG PRO grip, is for Warthog grip, needed for use Warthog grip on Gladiator PRO and Gunfighter bases.

For use MCG PRO and their mini-sticks you need Gladiator PRO/Gunfighter base.

For use MCG grip direct in Warthog base you need the MCG-TM version without mini-sticks, since Warthog base don't allow other axes than X and Y.

Perfect, all that was concerning me ! :)

So far VKB support really has been great and I am happy to be reassured in that opinion ! :))

The info at the usa site at the time of my post make clear that b grips should be used with b gf and owners of a gf must buy the a grip.

Now info in the site is clear, and the site new look make much more clear to understand the product line.

a link to the correct info is more clear than font size.

I second Sokol1.

Something to add to make it a bit more clear:

A.

You would be better off buying the dedicated MCG TM edition. Then you would be able to fit it onto TM base and enjoy full WH functionality (no pun intended).

Later when you feel you're up to getting VKB's base, you should write to us before placing your order and remind of your case. Then for a mere 10 extra bucks we will send you an extra fixture with which you will replace the TM-style puck. Next, you reposition the jumper inside the handle, and voila, you're now having a fully functional VKB MCG stick.

--- Plus you still keep the puck and are able to switch back to using your stick on TM base.

B.

I intentionally said nothing about MCG PRO that you mentioned; I did it for 2 reasons.

1 - Functionality of MCG PRO by far surpasses that of the TM base. So buying a PRO grip and using it on TM base is, errr... in simple words, you will never be able to use its full potential.

2 - So I suggest you go with a MCG TM first. Then, when you decide time's coming for a VKB base, you - may I repeat - write to us and remind us of your situation. We will offer you a magic PCB for a very, very reasonable fee. Inserting this PCB into your MCG grip will magically turn it into a MCG Pro.

--- Which, same as above, will leave you an opportunity to remove this PCB, replace the fixture, fix it onto, and fly with a TM base... should you still want to.

Well, that's certainly good to know for the TM base users. Perhaps it should be mentioned on the MCG-TM product page that it's possible to upgrade it to MCG or MCG Pro afterwards.
