Lenux
@ram0506, you mean, the 40 and 30 springs are better than the 10 springs? hard to believe. I'm using the shortest springs, if I would replace them with the longer ones, that wouldn't help me I9 12900k@ 5 GHz | 32 GB DDR4 | Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi d4| RTX 3090 | 6 TB SSD + 8 TB HDD | 4K Samsung Q90R 55" | VKB MK III PRO L | Virpil Throttle MONGOOST-50 | MFG Crosswind | TrackIR5
ram0506
If you use the stronger springs (has nothing to do with length of springs) you need more force to move the stick and the stick has a higher tendency to stay centered. Using stronger springs of course is a matter of personal preferences. It's not possible to say that those springs are better than the other ones mounted when you buy the stick. Just try it out to find your preferences. Lenux
Thanks But which springs are the strongest? Someone told me that the 30 cams are harder than the 10 cams Is that true? ram0506
The 40 springs are the strongest. Difference of the cams is, that the 30 cams have a pronounced centering, whereas the 10 cams have no centering. You can't say one is "harder" than the other one. rrohde
The 40 springs are the strongest. Actually, #50 springs are the strongest, but they only come with the extension kit to offset the longer throw. Lenux
And if I'd try to replace only the springs, would that help? I guess, it's not that easy, to replace the cams Thank you I9 12900k@ 5 GHz | 32 GB DDR4 | Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi d4| RTX 3090 | 6 TB SSD + 8 TB HDD | 4K Samsung Q90R 55" | VKB MK III PRO L | Virpil Throttle MONGOOST-50 | MFG Crosswind | TrackIR5
ram0506
Replacing the cams is rather easy. After removing the springs you just have to loosen one screw per axis/cam. rrohde
Here's a video that shows spring/cam replacement; even thought it's based on the Gladiator Pro, the steps are virtually the same for the Gunfighter. Lenux
Thank you, everyone I'll do it, tomorrow, i hope i can feel the difference Right now, it feels like a cheap plastic toy Poor centering.. Mango
The 30 cams have a slight center indent so you feel a "bump" when the stick is centered. With the 10 cams, spring tension is the only thing that gives any indication of "center".
Blatherman
When I first got my MCG Pro I changed out the springs/cams out immediately for #40 springs with the 30 cam. I liked the tension but disliked the clacking at center, especially when doing circular motions near center. I ended up keeping the #40 springs with 10 cam and really like it. I tried #60 (#40+#20) but felt the force required at the extremes was too much so I went back with #40.
Lenux
I don't understand why the 40 springs are stronger than the 10 springs The 10 springs looks shorter I don't understand the physic lows, anymore Could anyone explain this, please? :) Thank you I9 12900k@ 5 GHz | 32 GB DDR4 | Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi d4| RTX 3090 | 6 TB SSD + 8 TB HDD | 4K Samsung Q90R 55" | VKB MK III PRO L | Virpil Throttle MONGOOST-50 | MFG Crosswind | TrackIR5
Flagrum
I don't understand why the 40 springs are stronger than the 10 springs The 10 springs looks shorter I don't understand the physic lows, anymore Could anyone explain this, please? :) Thank you The material is stronger and resists deforming more, even when longer than the other. Imagine bending a 20 cm twig - which is easy. Now imagine bending a 100 cm branch - although longer, it requires much more force. :)
simo1000rr
I don't understand why the 40 springs are stronger than the 10 springs The 10 springs looks shorter I don't understand the physic lows, anymore Could anyone explain this, please? :) Thank you its not by the look or which one is longer or shorter but by a spring constant "K" , Spring force falls under hooke's law of physics which is calculated by a simple equation F=-KX . The variables of the equation are: F which represents force, k which is called the spring constant and measures how stiff and strong the spring is, and x is the distance the spring is stretched or compressed away from its equilibrium or rest position. The designer of the MCG grip takes alot of variables into consideration in order to determines the spring constant for each spring and the distance the grip will travel along its axis before the force excreted by the spring will become very strong . StandingCow
I went to higher springs at first too and was concerned that my stick was not perfectly centering, but eventually went back to the default because I found that it didn't matter that my stick wasn't centering perfectly since my hand was always on it.... plus I could add a tiny deadzone. I also tried the harder centering detent cams... went back to the soft center ones really quick. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo

rrohde
But it still feels loose, i don't know how to explain You could always experiment with the dry clutches for a more "heavy" feel; just be aware that when you dial in dry clutch friction, that the spring tension alone might not return the stick to center perfectly.
