I discovered something today that some might not know about trimming.

If you don't have TrackIR and use the hat switch on the TM Warthog for views which is normally the trim switch on the real Hog. You still have trim on the hat switch. Just press the LCTRL on your keyboard and now the hat switch is for trim. You could program it to do that, but it's there by default.

I haven't read this anywhere, so i'm not sure how many know it.

Hey BuzzU , I just discovered that very fact the other day too, I saw it in the DCS World A-10C Controls menu, thought I would try and it works great!. I was using keyboard , . ; / and that was finicky but with my hat top switch it doubles as a Trimming and FOV , yep very cool. :o)

Interesting. I never saw it in the manual. I need to pay more attention. I ran across it by accident fooling around with keys.

I finally ordered Trackir which i've owned in the past and like. Buying the Warthog controller and a new system to run DCS like it should be has drained my mad money. :(

Yes, I agree. I used it for years with IL2. My biggest decision now is what plane to fly. I really want to fly the A-10C, but there's so much to remember and i'm 74. My memory is not what it used to be. I'm trying, but it's tough for me.

Go and get the A-10C. It`s the only bird I`m learning to fly now for more than a year.

It takes time and patience to go through all the systems in it. But you can get a lot of good help here in the forum. And it will keep your memory working hard, and this is the best way to stay fit even when you are beyond sixty

I've had it for a few days. That's why I know it's going to be a challenge. The size of the manual was my first clue. ;)

Yes, nearly 700 pages, but don`t read it like a "good book". I only touch it when there is a spezific question.

Reading it from A to Z is way too much information at a time. And a lot of situations are even not described to work your way through them. Ask the plankowners and they will help.

It`s what I`m still doing.

Have fun.

I didn't try to read it all at once. Not with my memory. I'm reading what i'm working on. I do the training missions and watch a bunch of videos. I like the On The Range videos. He has over 30 of them demonstrating all the systems of the A-10C. Really helpful.

Hey there Buzz, always nice to have a new Hawg pilot in the fray!

Thought some of these reference materials might be of some use to you in taking the ugly bag of snakes and laying them out straight.

HOTAS Commands By SOI

A really helpful quick reference chart of all the various HOTAS controls and their function depending on what you have set as SOI. Everything on two pages at a glance and totally invaluable in my opinion.

Emergency procedures Checklist

A handy lil booklet for when things go pete tong and there's simply not enough time for a youtube video on the subject :)
