DataHawk Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) At (12:20) Matt mentions purchasing a key for a server I'm interested in running a hosted rental server in a data center like (i.e. gameservers.com) Any information on how to set that up would be greatly appreciated rental server in a data center Edited March 24, 2017 by DataHawk
ED Team Wags Posted April 18, 2017 ED Team Posted April 18, 2017 For now, you will be required to purchase a separate map key to act as the host. At some point, we do plan for "server side only maps", but that will first require dedicated server support. While still in the cards, we currently have some higher priorities for those staff members. nrgized Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Must be easy, why dont you put one together for us. If you cant run an engine without a window thats pretty bad. Frankly I'm shocked there isn't a dedicated server because before you even get to the graphics portion you have to do the state engine and you obviously need a way of testing that so....
ED Team NineLine Posted April 20, 2017 ED Team Posted April 20, 2017 They already stated they are re-writing the entire net-code, that's gotta come first, and as Wags said they have higher priorities right now. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
ED Team NineLine Posted April 20, 2017 ED Team Posted April 20, 2017 (edited) Will you pay him to? Not me, I am not even paid but if he is capable I am sure ED might grant him 3rd Party status to do so. ED Team NineLine Posted April 20, 2017 ED Team Posted April 20, 2017 Must be easy, why dont you put one together for us. Sorry, this came off a little harsher than I intended, but my point is that if it was easy or they had the time right now they would have done it already. They know its important, and want to get it done, its just not happening right now. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
SeaW0lf Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 They already stated they are re-writing the entire net-code, that's gotta come first. Will this come with the Normandy map (net-code rewrite) or has no scheduled date to be implemented? -- Win10 Pro, Philips 298P4QJEB (2560X1080), i5-9600K, Zalman 9900NT, GA-Z390 UD, GTX 1060 GamingX 6GB, 16GB 3200Mhz CL16, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB, Corsair AX-750W, Carbide 300R, G940, TrackIR 5 --

SeaW0lf Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 This. Do you think the servers will be able to put out some missions with B-17s and 80+ players or the Normandy map will be basically a single player map with limited sort of furball servers as we do have now? -- Win10 Pro, Philips 298P4QJEB (2560X1080), i5-9600K, Zalman 9900NT, GA-Z390 UD, GTX 1060 GamingX 6GB, 16GB 3200Mhz CL16, Samsung 970 EVO 250GB, Corsair AX-750W, Carbide 300R, G940, TrackIR 5 --
cichlidfan Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 One can only hope. I don't play MP but I do get the need for robust server code. DataHawk Posted October 21, 2017 Author Posted October 21, 2017 Any information on how to set up a hosted server would be greatly appreciated For some time, I have been working on creating a Virtual Fighter Squadron, I am interested in running a hosted rental server in a data center like (i.e. gameservers.com) for the Virtual Fighter Squadron. (I understand from Matt's post I will need to purchase a separate map key(s) to act as the host and that is not an issue) I know of one Squadron that owns their own server rack and had it shipped and installed at a Data Center. For my start up squadron the cost of creating and managing a server rack system would be prohibitive which I why I am interested in running a hosted server.
