DaveRindner Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 A proposed 21st century Bronco. Basically OV-10 with glass cockpit, sensor pod or sensor suite from AH-1w/Z in a nose turret. DCS could offer OV-10D sim with pod and NVS from A-10C. Weapons are rockets pods, GBU-38 JDAM, MK-82, MK-82HD, Hellfire, .50 BMG or 20mm cannon pod.
Rangi Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I second this wish, even an original bronco would do me. PC: 6600K @ 4.5 GHz, 12GB RAM, GTX 970, 32" 2K monitor.
DoomEngine Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I honestly thought I was the only fan of the Bronco....love that bird! ;) <--prior service USMC [sIGPIC]http://img.wp.scn.ru/camms/ar/375/pics/3_31.jpg[/sIGPIC]

WHOGX5 Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 An OV-10A with Pave Nail or an OV-10D would be an instant buy for me. Amazing visibility, long endurance, and light armament. It was even capable of landing and taking off from carriers and LHA/LHD's without the need for arresting wires or catapults. And with the Pave Nail package it was able to buddy lase for friendly aircraft. All-in-all, great fun! :D -Col. Russ Everts opinion on surface-to-air missiles: "It makes you feel a little better if it's coming for one of your buddies. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities." DCS Wishlist: MC-130E Combat Talon | F/A-18F Lot 26 | HH-60G Pave Hawk | E-2 Hawkeye/C-2 Greyhound | EA-6A/B Prowler | J-35F2/J Draken | RA-5C Vigilante

GPU-2/A 20mm center-line cannon gun pod A lightweight gun pod fitted with the M197 20 mm cannon, the unit weighs only 586 lb (266 kg) loaded with 300 rounds of ammunition. It has selectable fire rates of either 700 rpm or 1,500 rpm.[15] The pod is self-contained and powered by a Ni-Cad rechargeable battery, with sufficient charge to expend three complete loads before needing to be replaced.[16] This weapon has been tested on the A-37 Dragonfly and OV-10 Bronco.[17][18] Reference Links:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._aircraft_gun_pods https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GPU-2A_Navy_Picture.jpg  ........... Hawkeye60 Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) We have a OV-10B mod! https://www.dropbox.com/s/v02bjgq6lp2y0de/OV-10B%20F15C.zip?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuj6wd7qoo5ihoy/OV_10B_A10_cockpit.zip?dl=0 I have not flown these in some time. They might have issues, There is a post on the forums somewhere..................... I have tried the A10C version. Copy the Bin, cockpit and FM folders from the A10C folder into the mod folder. Back up the Mainpanel file in cockpit/scripts first and copy into the scripts folder AFTER the main folder copy. Edited May 2, 2017 by Hawkeye60 "Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."

DaveRindner Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 OV-10A Bronco was the only modern military aircraft, then in service, aside fro, Cessna Birddog, that could land on carrier without arrestor gear. Just its breaks.
BSS_Sniper Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 While I'd love to see a plane like this in dcs, there are a multitude of other aircraft that are missing and desperately needed well prior to even thinking about this. Enough time has been wasted developing planes like the L39 and C101. I9 9900k @ 5ghz water cooled, 32gb ram, GTX 2080ti, 1tb M.2, 2tb hdd, 1000 watt psu TrackIR 5, TM Warthog Stick and Throttle, CH Pedals
DaveRindner Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 SU-25T never entered service. Just low initial production test airframes. SU-39 was built in prototype only. 2-3 airframes. There is no rule in DCS against proposed or prototype only aircraft. OV-10D modernized would be a nice addition. Short of A-29 TucanoII. Consider that OV-10D can do almost everything that AH-64D or AH-1W/Z SuperCobra Venom do, except land vertically. But Bronco can land on supershort strips, and can deliver cargo and airborne personell. It can drop a SOC squad via para, or clandestine landing. It is also ridiculously cheap. Airframes in storage have short hours. Tucano is great, but Bronco has two spinning thingies instead of just one.
DaveRindner Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 I was just entering Army ROTC as Cadet MS1 as last USMC ® OV-10A/D squadrons were deploying for Desert Shield. THey were due to stand down, but then Saddam intervened. I remember, as a kid, watching Marines , on TV, deploy to Lebanon in 1983. I recall then new Sea Grey Broncoes flying around Beirut Airport as Marines and French Paras were taking up positions. After barracks bombing, Broncoes were redeployed , as Navy and Marine A-6 and A-7's were pounding Hizbullah positions in Lebanon, in retaliation. After college in 1993 when as new Army ® 2Lt. in Field Artillery School in Ft. Sill, my primary instructor, Cpt. Stevens USMC, a fantastic Marine officer, had some experience as Broncoe rear seater, as Marine FO/FAC as part of ANGLICO team. He had some very interesting patches on his flight bag.
DaveRindner Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 Programme name is OV-10G+ "Combat Dragon" http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/combat-dragon-ii-demonstrates-ov-10g-bronco-capabilities/
DoomEngine Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Enough time has been wasted developing planes like the L39 and C101. Not sure I agree with you here- I believe the L-39 is a great mod. Not all of us are RL pilots. :noexpression: [sIGPIC]http://img.wp.scn.ru/camms/ar/375/pics/3_31.jpg[/sIGPIC]
DaveRindner Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 Similar proposal from Boeing OV-10X https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=086x27FZ&id=EBA1FB7E78DB3D59D2F6A9C5FEEE03A84825B392&thid=OIP.086x27FZp211ROWZAmmywwEsDO&q=OV-10X&simid=608013915700987615&selectedIndex=1&ajaxhist=0 Hi efficiency prop, and precision kill weapons kit.
DaveRindner Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 For WWII DCS, I would love P-61 Black Widow and/or P-38. My favorite WWII designs are all twin engine, twin boom, heavy fighter/attack, with tricycle gear. Single prop tail draggers hold no interest to me. P-61 Black Widow P-38 Lightning What is that? https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=24bLNXU6&id=966DB81F2DC019841CEE1686225114CF1BF2EA5F&thid=OIP.24bLNXU6HHSn5t_FZJ7dnQEsDA&q=Russian+WW2+Twin+Tail+Aircraft&simid=608008065928331393&selectedIndex=0&ajaxhist=0
Nero.ger Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 While I'd love to see a plane like this in dcs, there are a multitude of other aircraft that are missing and desperately needed well prior to even thinking about this. Enough time has been wasted developing planes like the L39 and C101. with a big enough 'crowbar' you could probably mod the L39 into anything that requires a two seater system :music_whistling: (but i agree on the C101 and the hawk with you) and yea, Bronco is a 'stfu and take my money' :) 'controlling' the Ka50 feels like a discussion with the Autopilot and trim system about the flight direction.
