Yon anti-spin rockets look like a way of saving a really expensive aircraft. I'd guess that if you were in a flat spin, then firing the appropriate rocket (I'm founding this on the idea that the rocket stays on it's mount!) would sap the spin, and then firing both rockets and burners would give you enough airspeed to get the aircraft out of a stall condition.

As to the LTD, it looks as though that's a gimbaled laser reflector - it allows you to designate and lock targets in a much larger zone than a forward looking system like the ShkVAL we have in FC. I'd guess that the module above the 'disco ball' is too small for a targeting laser, so I'd bet on their being some interior reflectors to take a beam from the primary (forward looking) laser.

Just my guesses.

Lt. Commander Block: Every aerial photo and recon report indicate a defensive arsenal in the D, and perhaps negative C, categories. There's also some anti-aircraft squadrons.

Admiral Benson: I don't have a clue what you're talkin' about, Phil. Not a clue. I have a shell the size of a fist in my head. Pork Chop Hill. The only way I can make this toupee to stay on is by magnetizing the entire upper left quadrant of my skull, so you just go ahead and do what you do.

And saving lives. This looks like it could be an airshow safety net. It's such a good idea it should be required that any aircraft doing any type of displays besides a basic flyby should have these rockets loaded.

strange... "somebody" still has not showed up saying those are sci-fi mockups of never developed weapons...

You really have to stop fixating so much on me ... seriously. What will people think? ;)

Hmm.. I guess that the second one could be an IR detector system for picking up the IR spike generated by a missile launch - but I think it'd be very difficult to seperate the signature of a launch from that of an aircraft going to full burners. (This is probably why I don't work in detector tech!)

As to the 'tickler' hawg, I'd be very scared of any bedroom device capable of generating a coupla thousand foot pounds of thrust!

Yes this is similar as I read and also they still want to impooove it and make it operational. Here is aslo another link of my source

God d#%*, that is a good site, even has the development graph of the su-27 family. It should be mandatory to know it for every lomac fan!!!

The test will ve in a week from now, with tricky historical questions on the early days of the su-27...

here we go again:

I think the most important bit of information that can be taken from that photo is that they have chosen an extra 2 R-73's rather than 27ET's.

It has a 27T to make up for in length.

'Use the force Luke', springs to mind.

I am still thinking about what this is. It definately seems to be for lasers, as each of those holes is a retro--reflector. It allows a laser beam that hits it, the be reflected back at a given angle regardless of incoming angle.

I seem to think this is for combat simulations, as why would you want to reflect the beam for navigation, or even just detection.

IBTB (in before the ban)

Well I know those are retro-reflectors, that is obvious. I am just trying to figure out for what.

And its puff puff give, not puff puff puff puff puff..... you're screwing up the rotation man.

Man, I can agree with you, on university I lear about landsurvive and about GPS and so, and those reflectors looks very close to those whitch we used to reflect laser signal from mirror reflection pentagrams back to "machine". And we were able to read distance angle and so. I am not able find anz photo on internet of that mirrors but you can sometimes see guys with that thing in terrain :)
