GumidekCZ Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Keep them to a 3:4 portrait aspect ratio, though, or they will become distorted. Still wonder, why so many player have different aspect ratio, than other. Everybody is talking about 3:4, but if you measure KB page from picture bellow, you will notice that it is actualy 2:3! All KB pictures I have with 3:4 are distorted at my screen. Create your own KB pages with both aspect ratios and with big circle in center. Upload into DCS and than measure and compare width and hight of the circle. The aspect with equal dimensions is your proper KB aspect ratio.
Fakum Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I know this is old, but I didnt want to start a new, relevant thread. I have created a custom kneeboard (manually-not using Kneeboard Builder) there are some Map images in the kneeboard by default that I dont want in there. Where do I find that file to get rid of them? Where do I find that file to get rid of them? If you mean the map that displays your flight plan, it is a dynamic DCS feature .. not a static image file that you can delete. If you mean the navigation charts that some maps have, their image files are on the Kneeboard folder of the respective map, for example for caucasus they are at: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Kneeboard Edited December 23, 2024 by Rudel_chw 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Fakum Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I guess i am referring to the 2nd option, its the ones in the kneeboard i want to get rid of. I have been tinkering for hours trying to get the best quality image from some PDF files I have that I want on Kneeboard. I have been opening the PDF's, then saving as .png, then opening them up in Paint and fiddling with resolution e.g. 768 x 1024 or 900 x 1200,,, not very clear Im finding. Fakum Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 @Rudel_chw There is no "kneeboard" file in the Afgan map that I have been using as a test bed. So I guess I am stuck with the (4) maps that are in the kneeboard. Also, I made the files I wanted to use in the keyboard, and in an effort to make them "sequential" in the order i wanted them to appear as i switch to next page, I put a number in front of the file name, but I cant get them to appear in the order I prefer. Any suggestions on that? OK, Not all maps came with navigation charts (which is a shame really). I don't have your map on my collection, but here you can see, for example, the Charts that the Falklands map has: 34 minutes ago, Fakum said: So I guess I am stuck with the (4) maps that are in the kneeboard. Yes, the automatic map is a cheat that DCS offers for use by the less experienced users, it looks like this on my current mission: 34 minutes ago, Fakum said: Also, I made the files I wanted to use in the keyboard, and in an effort to make them "sequential" in the order i wanted them to appear as i switch to next page, I put a number in front of the file name, but I cant get them to appear in the order I prefer. The kneeboard displays the pages in filename alphabetical order, so it would work best with the number added at the end, for example here is my F-4E kneeboard: best regards Edited December 23, 2024 by Rudel_chw For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

On my case, I write my Kneeboards using Microsoft Word (but any word processor would do), pagesize Half-Letter, main text at 12pt, then save as PDF, then use Kneeboard Builder to convert from PDF to PNG, at a resolution of 150dpi. The end result has this quality: 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Fakum Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Thanks for all of the tips, especially the filing numbers, I was putting all of the numbers in the front. "Yes, the automatic map is a cheat that DCS offers for use by the less experienced users, it looks like this on my current mission:" Those maps have to come from somewhere, I wonder if there is a place to shut this "automatic map" off or find the location where they are being pulled from.
