I have an NTTR mission that is set up as a practice area for all of the aircraft that I fly. I flew the Hawk for about an hour before switching to the F-5E. When I started up and started taxiing, I noticed that the nosewheel steering wasn't working. After checking my key bindings I noticed that the radio menu was getting toggled by the button that I had bound to nosewheel steering. Thinking that the button may have somehow gotten connected to two actions, I moved nosewheel steering to another button on my joystick. When I tested that button, it was still activating the radio menu.

The fact that I forgot to disconnect air and power may be a contributing factor. After realizing my error, I called out to the crew to disconnect air and power, even though I really didn't have to anymore, and that is when I discovered the problem with my steering button.

I looked to see if this bug had already been reported, but I couldn't find it. I hope this helps.

Pressing S will activate the radio in the Tiger, but it is when airborne, if I am not mistaken.

Sounds normal to me.

But it is a feature - double functionality of the NWS button, that is.

Now, whether it should activate the radio when the landing gear is loaded, though, or only after liftoff - that has been a subject of many debates in this section of the forum (I don't know the correct answer).

NWS button can be also used as radio button, that function is correct.

When the weight is on the right main L/G its function is NWS. If the weight is off the right main L/G, function of the button is switched to radio, as described in -1.

I would suggest you double check your control mapping, if you dont have that pinky switch mapped to actual radio. (can we map 1 button to 2 functions? if not scratch that)

If not make sure you are not making hard right turns and getting weight of the right L/G . (I think not)

If not then its a probably bug (never happend to me tho, but I only fly in 1.5.6)

You know you have to hold the button down for NWS and it's not a toggle like the A-10C?

Reckon it's probably a double-binding issue somewhere causing it, as like the others have said, it is a dual function button where it does NWS on ground and radio in air.

Also, post a track otherwise people are just clutching at straws.

Yes, I know that I have to hold the button down. I suspect that it is a niche issue which is why I explained the circumstances surrounding it.

I'll try to recreate it later, but I never expected it to be anything other than a low priority bug so I'm not going to be putting a rush on it either.

Was your landing gear handle down?

Goofy idea, but something worth checking. You'll have weight on wheels so they wont retract, but NWS wont work.
