Here's a slightly odd thought.

I recently spotted a vid about a proposed optional extra for the HTC Vive:

https://www.roadtovr.com/vive-n-chill-cooling-solution-htc-vive-indiegogo-campaign-now-live/

From what I can see, it's just a pair of 40mm case fans attached to the Vive, blowing at your forehead. As the Vive excels in using within an open floor space, whilst looking ridiculous, probably not a bad idea.

Additionally, over the last few weeks, I couldn't help think how pleasant it's been when you get a gust of wind through the window next to my seating area. When out flying, almost feels like you're getting a blast around the canopy of the aircraft your in.

As we're mostly static in our cockpits, has anyone tried the effort of setting up a desk fan blowing straight at your whilst in VR? If so, any thoughts? Think I might try it tomorrow.

Just get a desk/floor fan and problem is solved when you get air to rotate around you.

I have 2 soft bladed fans on my desk I turn on for VR driving and flying, and sure also if hot during summer of course. I like em and they make my desk look like it can fly.

I have a ceiling fan in my gaming room / den. (rather a must in AZ). It does add to the affect for me, especially when I taxi with the cockpit open. It really does... :-)

I have a really good situation.

In our retirement home, the wife and I set up our offices in the garage. Well of course I wanted it climate controlled, so had a Mitsubishi Ductless Air System installed shortly after we moved in. It is right in front of me up high on the wall, and the fans oscillate down and up.

So whilst gaming with the Rift, I always have nice cool air blowing on me.

Let's hope they make one for the Rift. I'd snatch it up!

I have a small USB fan with a LED clock. It's about 1m from my face, but it circulates air well enough to keep the temp in the Oculus from being uncomfortable. Should note that I live north of the polar circle, so I rarely need to deal with excessive temperatures to begin with ;)

The pic showing the front clock face of the fan is pre VR, when I used a 34" 21:9 Samsung screen. The other pic with the red arrow, pointing at the fan is my current setup.

lol..it does like to collect dust. I wish it would find a new hobby and find something new to collect.

But nothing a damp cloth wipe once a week can't resolve until it does.
