Pilotasso Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Tired to see it from the Greek perspective? heres one: http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/DavidNorum/1422/ Skip any reading because it contains just as much propaganda as the greek videos. Just thought to share because the video is not distorted and is of the best quality so far. .
Vekkinho Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Nice video, is that real encounter between Turkey and Greece or is it preplanned training sortie?! I remember few months ago Greek and Turkish F-16 collision over Cyprus, perhaps in situation like this. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Guest Hell Sqn Protos Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hmmmm not sure what your agenda is.......... ..........but what can anyone expect from you Pilotasso except to show a F16 dueling a mirage??? wow thats skill on the Turk side ....... [insert dripping sarcasm] The video from the Greek side shows equal ships - which shows THE BETTER PILOTS. One has to wonder what your agenda is ? You must still be reeling from me shooting you down a few times.:smilewink:
Guest Hell Sqn Protos Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 A little reality check.... http://www.hellenicsquadron.com/H.A.FvsT.H.K.htm
MBot Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Very nice footage Pilotasso. Fortunatly there is no shooting in those videos.
suntrace1 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I've found this training dogfight between F-18 and F-16 on another forum - quality of the picture is just awesome!!! http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/Guest/249/ I wonder if the pilot is left handed?
ericinexile Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 That video show us only one thing...that some people still don't get along. Other than that, we have no idea what the engagement conditions were nor in which country's airspace the engagements occurred. For all we know, the Greek pilots may have been ordered to allow their sixes to get jumped in order to build just this very body of evidence on "Turkish aggression". The other thing we know is that a handful of Americans are making a lot of money fueling this relationship by supplying both parties with planes and equipment. (btw, it was pretty cool to be able recognize every single bit of data from the HUDs including the DED display option...guess I learned something from all this sim time) Smokin'Hole Smokin' Hole My DCS wish list: Su25, Su30, Mi24, AH1, F/A-18C, Afghanistan ...and frankly, the flight sim world should stop at 1995.
Brit_Radar_Dude Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I've had both Greek friends and Turkish friends, they're a good laugh except when they start up about the other country, I never went drinking with both sides at the same time ;) If I was in charge at NATO, I would take the boss of the Greek Air Force and the boss of the Turkish Airforce, tell them to grow up and keep hitting their heads together till they'd had enough...... No Fear Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Hi people.I'd like to give my two cents on this topic and at the same time avoid feeding you guys any cheap propaganda. I do not understand why some people believe that only one side/country has great pilots and the other has not.So Hell Sqn Protos I don't see why you believe that no Turkish pilot has ever managed to get behind a Greek's pilot six. Many years ago the situation was different as the Turkish pilots weren't good at flying over the sea but I guess that things are somewhat different nowadays since we have 'trained' the Turkish pilots well ! The whole dispute is childish in my opinion and I am sick and tired of seeing the Greeks and the Turks quarrel about the same stuff for so many years. Somehow we must find a way to forget our differences from the past and find a way to get along. It will be for the good of both countries as they will stop spending huge amounts of money on military equipment. Who wants war anyway? Take care you all. 2 Fighter pilots make movies.Bomber pilots make history! You can fool some people all the time, all the people sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time!
Pilotasso Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 These intercepts are nothing than fun rides, note the the word "SIM" on the HUD (no weaposn armed, just pretend), they are not there but to get some adrenalish rush. .
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Somehow we must find a way to forget our differences from the past and find a way to get along. There is no problem with differences. The problem is with land. Wars are fought to take land. Wars are not fought because people are different. Look at Kosovo, Israel, Middle East and etc for examples. Who wants war anyway? One who is strong enough to take somebody’s land. This is turning political. I am out of it. 192nd_Erdem Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Edited my message to prevent a possible flame war, although creating this topic alone is a invitation for a flame war ;) I just get extremeley pissed whenever I see some "provoking" comments from Greek side. Let's talk about something different, thanks to these nice "little" fights Turkey and Greece hold the best F-16 dogfighters in the world :) Too bad some "unfortunate" accidents happen meanwhile.
Pilotasso Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 GG warned me of your eventual reply. LOL chill out. The engagement is not even for real. .

Couldn't care less if you get pissed or not. In fact I LOVE IT. 'Accidents' have happened because Turk pilots are incompetent and overly aggressive while INVADING Hellenic Territory. I notice your goverment still hasn't released radar logs 'to prove your innocence' Good luck with that EU application loooooooooooooooool.....................
GGTharos Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 The proper place for these politically charged debates is not this one. Go to this thread instead: http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/showthread.php?t=1326&page=12 And maybe Alfa won't lock this thread. No Fear Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Oh my God! I don't believe it when I see this happening. Childish disputes about who has the best pilots etc. And the argument about Alexander The Great was off topic I think Hell Sqn Protos (by the way he was Greek,Pilotasso, but let's not get into that now). Again I ask who in his right mind is pro-war? Just because someone plays flight sims, doesn't mean he has to raise hell about topics like that. Pilotasso or anybody else had every right to post such a link/video.And he says it clearly in the heading of the topic,'New perspective....' Why do these topics about Greece and Turkey have to be turned into a flame war? Fighter pilots make movies.Bomber pilots make history! You can fool some people all the time, all the people sometimes, but you can't fool all the people all the time!
Guest IguanaKing Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Wow! That Turk pilot got down to 167 KIAS in that fight?!!! Good thing for him that there wasn't an actual fight going on, or he'd be dead. Good footage, but he kinda looked like an amateur up there. Edit: BTW. I don't say that to contribute to a nationalist pissing contest. The Turk screwed up, but at the same time he was able to reacquire the Greek. I guess the footage just shows that both sides are human. :D
Pilotasso Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 F-16's get to go that slow in dogfights, thats very common on all teen fighters and other 3rd gen craft as well. My brother went for a spin in a MLU 2 days ago and reported similar stories. .
Guest IguanaKing Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 He got slow enough to where the VMS gave him an AoA over-limit warning, and the FCC dropped the nose. That would have meant a lost fight if his opponent had been more experienced. But...the FCC action might have also helped the Turk, since he entered the turn just a little too early. :D
