Oculus Connect 4 begins today and runs through tomorrow.

https://uploadvr.com/can-watch-oculus-connect-4-live-vr-today/

Mark Z will be delivery the keynote later today ( available also in VR), and John Carmack will be speaking tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see what may or may not be revealed, although from early reports it sounds like most of the focus will be on the stand alone lower end platform. I hope we get at least some news/direction on where they may be taking high end PC VR - as in Rift CV2.

Pimax is still some months away, not to mention the power to run it. Talking about the true 8k headset.

Samsung I am not sure is on the same level, we will see.

I just hope for some solid information on the direction they will be taking with the high end PC-VR, at least more than they have already shared.

The Oculus Connect App is available from Oculus Home now, for those that might wish to watch the keynote later today in VR.

It was pretty neat watching the keynote in VR, took me about 10 min to get a decent enough connection though.

I signed off early as they had moved on to the developer portion of the keynote.

Some quick take aways:

Oculus Go - new stand alone headset , pricing of 199.00. Designed for "experiences".

Oculus Rift - new permanent Rift + Touch pricing of 399.00, effective today.

Santa Cruz - Wireless stand alone headset, still being developed - 4 cameras in the headset for inside/out tracking. Motion Controllers

Oculus Dash - New VR interface, puts everything on your monitor into VR. ( no more need for BigScreen/Virtual Desktop).

Oculus Home - all new customizable environments, can move around and place objects where you like them. Your games will look like the ole time game cartridges you can launch them from.

The software changes = Rift Core 2.0

The software improvements sound very exciting to me, plus having the whole PC experience available in VR will be pretty cool. I believe the beta of al of this coming in Dec.

Nothing really discussed yet regarding a second generation of the Rift, but there was a hint more on the Rift would be discussed later during the conference.

wondering if they'll force Windows 10 as a req.

as the Virtual Desktop apps all required DX11.1/12. (windows 8 and 10)

Maybe not for Oculus Core 2.0 itself, but for the desktop stuff you've got to assume that's going to be the case.

Doesn’t look like rift will be updated soon :(! All hopes on pimax or Samsung headset. Next year they’ll focus on Santa Cruz

Well they have always talked about 2019 for the next gen. I am hoping they are not changing direction, with the introduction of the new Dash software for the Rift/Touch , environments and customizable Home, certainly they are still at least focusing some on the Rift.

I will be looking for certain things for myself to even consider moving to the next device for me, whomever that might be. In the meantime I will happily continue with my Rifting :smilewink:

When I was announced that few months ago people didn't believe.

400$ is realistic price which was promised before CV1 release but Zuckerberg break it. With this price Rift is still in the game with new and more, I will not use advanced but definitely more promising models.

This 400$ is good deal realistic price which balansing performance with price so that way Rift could stay bestbuy option.
