borchi_2b Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 @holbeach: a retired Royal Army Gazelle and Lynx pilot came back to me with the following about the autorotation. For him, after the last update it feels as it should be. So about the autorotation, you have to manage your rotor rpm with your pitch. Try to keep it at a high level. I even overspeed at the decend to have enough energy for the last pitch. http://www.polychop-sims.com
borchi_2b Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Abput all the dicsussions, basically, what IÄ figurred is, that sometimes people have not updated the gazelle lately. So for my believes it only makes sense to keep arguing when everybody is on the same track with the version. http://www.polychop-sims.com

Hello, Can you tell us if the Gazelle M, L and Mistral have been updated with 1.5.8 beta, please ? Regards, Teldja

I do not challenge their knowledge about what they flew in their career, of course they know better than most of us, but each helicopter has its particularities (that's why QT's exist!:-)) For exemple about this roll effect, 342 has a linked turbine. This makes a difference.. a supposed rotor gyroscopic precession is irrelevant. The roll effect on a rapid variation of collective doesn't exist on 342M. It induce a light yaw variation however. That's what a retired ALAT pilot and instructor (5600 flight hours, 3000 on SA341/342M) said in our virtual squadron. If you want to be in touch with him, I think this could be possible, Pat and Nicolas probably know who I'm refering to... Except this point, FM is good, obviously not perfect but in accordance with 342M major characteristics. Ramsay Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 (edited) Can you tell us if the Gazelle M, L and Mistral have been updated with 1.5.8 beta, please ? The ADI DOP function is working in the SA342M, I haven't tested the other versions. ********** 20/11/2017 ********** ... - Changed the ART/VIS/VHF/DOP selector function when in DOP position Now in DOP position the vertical and horizontal bars of the main horizon will show respectively the lateral and longitudinal speeds of the helicopter. ... Note: Razbam's WIP LHA-1 Tarawa is also included and makes a great Mistral Class LHD substitute. borchi_2b Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 @gpelfort: I was talking about the autorotation. about nothing else. About the roll, different story. Has the mentioned instructor made a barrelroll on retirement ? Well my personal contact switches to the 4th air regiment soon. But yeah if your contact has worked out the latest testing series with both of them they should know him. Problem for me is, i do not speak french and athere are a few guys on the list here. Well for the other planned module we already have handpicked testilots that all together have many thousand flighthours on that helicopter and combat experiance in that particular aircraft. One of them flys DCs nearly daily again after his transition to ea new airframe. So yeah, I know the different views of pilots and the pbstacles to it. In the end it is more an impression for details when a flightmodel has reached a certain stage. http://www.polychop-sims.com
Capn kamikaze Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 ....This makes a difference.. a supposed rotor gyroscopic precession is irrelevant. To the collective thing, yes, it's irrelevant, but the precession discussion was about retreating blade stall effects, and it is very relevant to that.

FragBum Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 FWIW After update 2.2.0.12448 the resolution of cyclic input to effect on attitude is better (finer granularity*) and the over reacting to cyclic input around centre seems to be gone. * I do think my cyclic needs more resolution AKA smaller steps so I will investigate options here. :music_whistling: Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above. Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.
